Have You Used a Portable DVD Player on a Plane? Brand Recommendations?

This will be the 2nd time I have raved about this DVD player on Mamasource.. :) This is by far the best investment I have made as a parent. We have used this on a plane, car, & in restaurants and its fantastic! When your on the plane, they will either have AC or DC outlets & this dvd player comes with both adapters, as well as a car adapter. I always charge before we get on the plane & the battery life is about 2 hrs. It also comes with a remote, harness for using in the car which works perfectly, no skips as your driving. I can't rave about it enough. Enjoy your trip!!

We used to take our Polaroid DVD player (bought it from Target) on the plane with us. The battery life is 4 hours, and it worked well for our toddler daughter -- that is until we ended up stranded on the tarmac for six hours. (It was a two hour flight.) Might I suggest buying an iPod. The battery life is six hours, and you can also buy back-up external batteries for it. I know you're only flying to Florida, but you might find that the iPod comes in handy at the grocery store and on longer car rides too. You don't have to lug around a DVD player and all the DVDs and chargers. You can buy $40 software to convert all your DVDs to iPod movies. For $20 or less you can buy a little external speaker that plugs into the top if your child does not like using headphones. You can probably buy a cheap used iPod for the same amount of money as a DVD player. I'm not a techie either, but I decided to bite the bullet and enter the world of iPods so I could take my daughter with me on a trip to Asia. It was a lifesaver on the plane, and I was even able to watch my own movies when she wasn't using it. And as an added bonus, I uploaded all my digital photos to the iPod so I could use it as a photo album to show to my relatives.

I would suggest you go to the Best Buy, Walmart and Target websites and read the reviews of current DVD players on the market. The recommendation from the other mom looks like a good one as well. Don't forget to get headphones for the plane ride. It can be hard to hear on the plane otherwise and you really don't want to disturb all the other passengers around your child. Great idea to pick up a dvd player for your travels. We've used them for a few years now and it is such a blessing.
