Both of mine had runny noses when teething. If it's clear and no fever than you're probably ok however if it persists I would call her DR just in case it's allergies.
I'm pretty sure i have read somewhere that runny nose could be caused by teething. Has this happened to your little ones? I am just curious because my barely 10 month old is either on her 4th cold or there is another reason reason for her runny nose. This time as with the last time she just has a runny nose and it for sure having discomfort from teething. I use the saline drops and bulb syringe with some success to help her breath. Is there a decongestant i could use just at night time so she can sleep better? I know you are not supposed to use meds like this in little ones and i would much rather not use anything and let her body do what it's gonna do but....maybe i could give her something just at night? Any suggestions? THx

Hi M.
Yes my son had a runny nose when teething.
I gave him the usual teething medicine plus I used to burn eucaleptus oil in his room an hour before bed. The oil can also be put in his bath. Its a fantastic decongestant. I tried everything and found it the best.
All the best

All 3 of mine had runny noses, incredibly high fevers and ear infections with their teeth.
teething cause so many wierd things with babies - and yes a runny nose is one of them. When my son was very young we had to have an panoramic xray done of his jaw - their sinuses and teeth are all crammed together in the same space. After seeing that hte runnynose during teething suddenly made sense. It's surprising that their little brains can function with all that activity in their heads!
yep mine had a runny nose with teething,
but it's also allergy season.
so it could be allergies
if it's runny you need an antihistamine not a decongestant.
Zyrtec is a good allergy med for little ones my daughter was about that age when she started taking it when it first came out.
Yep, runny nose and mild fever both with initial teething and now again as her permanent teeth come in.
Big time! Anytime the top teeth were coming through, DS was congested for a week or 2. And around the 9-12mos mark, when a lot were coming through at the same time, it seemed like he constantly was sick.
But it was just the teeth.
Vicks is about the best you can do for her. Cold meds won't work in kids that young. Slather her up with it. You can also buy a Vick's air thing for the room that plugs into an outlet. It emits the vapors for 8 hrs. I like those better, since my kids just rub the cream right off.
Yep my 9 month old is the same way. I swear I could suck her nose out all day and it never stops running! I use a cool mist humidifier at night to help her sleep and if the teething is really painful I give her baby tylenol. I have also found that baby Vicks working wonders if I put it on her chest and back.
Vicks is good I agree and they now have the Vicks steamer which works great!
My son gets a runny nose, red cheeks, pulls on his ears, and sometimes a low grade fever when teething. He can also get a little cough or diarrhea from the excessive drooling. As long as your baby does not have green discharge from her nose, watery eyes, and a high grade fever, then it's probably due to teething. Check with your pediatrician, it may be okay to give her a little Benadryl (depending on her weight, my son is a chunkster) to help dry her up before bed. Side note, some kids have the opposite reaction to benadryl and it gets them all wound up (like my eldest child!)... Hope she feels better and teethes FAST so you can get it over with :)
Its not everytime that she gets a runny nose but yes when she is teething she often will have a bit of a runny nose. I can tell the difference with teething and a cold by whether or not she seems congested from it or if it just happens to be runny.
Good Luck
