Has Anyone Used the Sherpani Rumba Child Carrier?

I haven't used that one but I did want to recommend the Ergo. www.ergobabycarrier.com I used this carrier for many many hikes. I carried my kids on my back from age 6mos - 3+years old w/no back pain.

I agree with Michele S. I used several slings and they hurt my back when the boys got older. The Ergo Baby carrier is a fantastic, and I'm still using it comfortably with my 4.5 year old. My sons and I love it.

if you're actually going to hike, i cannot more highly recommend the kelty FC, we have the 1.0 http://www.rei.com/product/765837 which is amazing. i have a very big baby, she's not even 9 months and she's 31 inches and 25 pounds. i can go out with her in this all day and feel great at the end of the day, maybe my legs are a little tired, but my back is fine. (and i have some major back issues which is why i can't front carry her).

definitely a must buy, and i like it that when i take the baby off my back, the bar automatically pops back out and i can set her on the ground and she stays upright and can't go anywhere, unlike all front and sling types. (we use it at the beach a lot) lots of cargo space too.

I boufht it and tried it on a hike. My daughter (7 months at the time) hated it. I use a hand-me-down evenflo now.

We tried them all and ended up buying the Deuter III. It is about $50 more than the Sherpani at REI, but well worth it. It has an awesome sun hood that really protects the little one, and is very comfortable on your back.

The Deuter II is the same price as the Sherpani but does not have the sun hood.

REI has them all: the Deuter, the Sherpani, the Kelty, and the REI brand one. You can go there and try them all. I recommend that both you and your husband try them on. You are looking for the one that is most comfortable for *both* of you as you will want to switch part way during the hike.
