Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has used hypnotherapy and how it worked for you?
I quit smoking, then relapsed and I'm smoking again. I'm considering hypnotherapy to help me and just wanted to get as much info as possible.
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
I myself have never be hypnotized, but my brother has for the very same thing, quitting smoking, and he says it works. He does tend to relapse in times of stress and the like, but if he just committed him self a bit more, I'm sure his hypnotherapy would last longer. He has it done in San Antonio at a place for about $20, which to me is cheap. Good Luck!

L.,

I had a friend who did this somewhere in San Antonio and it worked for her for a while. But she started again and then went with Chanix which she said the side effects were significant.

I agree with one of the other ladies who said you really have to want to quit to make it work.

I have considered this but have not pursue anyone in Austin. Do you have someone in mind to use? Are you in Austin?

My husband smoked for over 15 years and 5 months ago used Chantix. We're not into taking medication for just anything but he made an acception for this. It worked amazingly well for him and he in the past he had tried several different methods (but not hypnotherapy). His father was a smoker as well. Anyway, he said it was like eating a slice of chocolate cake but not being able to taste anything. He quit after our oldest (we have 2 boys 3 and 1 yrs old) starting mimicking him and saying, "Look, I'm smoking".

Good luck L.!

PS, I can totally relate with not being a girly girl! My favorite flicks are The Professional, Matrix and Fight Club.

My mom and my husband did this years ago. My mom quit smoking, but it did not work for my husband. He later used Zyban (about 15 years later!!). My mom had smoked for quite some time before she tried the hypotherapy. I think that whatever someone does works when they are ready to quit. She really wanted to quit.
