I am looking for any moms who have taken their children under the age of 1 to a Chirpractor for any medical issue. There seem to be so many chiropractors in Minneapolis but I am have a hard time deciding who would be best suited to deal with children. Any recommendations, feedback. suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I take my infant to Paul Zilka in Richfield. We started when he was about 6 weeks old because he was showing reflux like symptoms and really fussy with the projectile vomiting. He's very good with children and sees many of them.

I have also heard great things about Dr. Spicer (our neighbors take their three kids there), but the cost was just too much for us, as she doesn't take insurance.

I found Dr. Michael Deckert in Eagan, who is FANTASTIC with my kids (and takes our insurance). I am also seeing him now while I'm pregnant. He is with Silver Bell Chiropractic/Better Health Chiropractic. (same office, two different chiropractors) Phone number: ###-###-####.

If you need someone closer to you, you can check the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) website www.icpa4kids.org for other pediatric chiropractors in your area.

Good Luck!

We go to Dr. Troy Boschee at Valley West Chiropractic in Bloomington. My son was recommended for ear tubes but I decided to try chiropractics first. We had no more ear infections after starting to see Dr. Boschee. We started right around the age of one but I wish I had started earlier. My son loves Dr. Boschee and my whole family (my mom, dad, stepmom, brother, sister, husband, son, and me) has used this clinic with great success. Other health issues in our family that have been solved with chiro (other than back and neck pain): winter asthma, severe stomach pains that had been diagnosed my a medical doctor as an ulcer (wrong!), carpal tunnel, an ankle that would lock up and cause extreme pain.

We've taken our son (primarily constipation issues) and it's been fine. Ours is in Saint Paul, Channing McKinley with Open Hands Massage. She also has an office in Edina. She's great with little ones and pregnant women. Can't recommend her enough. Do a google search and you can find her contact info. Baby can sit on your lap, you guys can pretty much do what it takes to be comfy. Channing won't use much pressure, but your little one will cry. She seriously is really gentle, it's just that she's working on slightly sensitive areas. Channing, who was also my doula, has worked with our boy since he was about a week. We don't go very regularly, but it's always been fine. Bring toys. And seriously, I know your looking in MPLS, but it's worth the drive to go to Channing. We drive from Brooklyn Park.

Channing takes insurance, but you have to do the forms yourself. She's pretty affordable out of pocket, though, about $40. And really, she is just wonderful.

I've been taking my daughter to the chiropractor since she was 7 months old. She has several disabilities and chiropractic has had amazing results. I take her to Dr. Melissa Millner in Hastings and we love it. It is a little bit of a drive from us in Burnsville, but worth it. She is such a nice woman who specializes in pediatric chiropractic. Let me know if any ?'s. Good luck with your search

Hi L.,

I've brought both my kid's to Ann Packard Spicer at Northwestern Health Sciences in Bloomington. She is great with kid's. I brought both my kid's because of chronic ear infections. Alot of people say it's helped their children. However, mine ended up with getting tubes anyway. I still bring them every three months for adjustments. Even though it didn't work with the ears, it did help with my daughters constipation. Here is the website. Good luck. http://www.nwhealth.edu/natcare/bios/spicer.html

On the down side, i have to pay out of pocket. I believe it was $80 first visit and $40 every visit after that.

When my daughter was an infant I brought her to Wildwood Chiropratic. My mother and both sisters go there as well. My mom has been going there for as long as I can remember.

They usually see Dr. Pat Napoli but they have also used Dr. Scott DePaulis.

Dear L.,

I know of an excellent chiropractor in Edina -- Dr. Adam Burke of Wilson Chiropractic Center (France Ave). Dr. Burke is a terrific doctor (and "hip"), who is an educational expert recognized by the National Health and Wellness Bureau. He works with infants from the time the child comes home from the hospital following birth. Other people he has treated include pregnant patients, allergy sufferers, migraines, athletes, accident victims, ear infection patients, menstrual issues, etc.

I have a professional working relationship with Dr. Burke, and pass referrals to him with great confidence that his recommended course of treatment will provide wellness to the patient.

Check out his website for more information:

Good luck

L.,
I took my baby to two different chiropractors, both in St. Paul. I brought him to Dr. Fred Clary in Roseville when he was a newborn for latch issues. Dr. Clary just adjusted his jaw at that time. I also brought my son to Dr. Ginger Dunnivan of Acorn Chiropractic for help with food sensitivities. Ginger also does some other alternative health things, but I really liked her a lot. Her chiropractic work is very gentle. She uses foam wedges placed under you and your own body weight rather than super neck cracking. Let me know if you want more info on either person.

I took my first son to the chiropractor at 7 weeks old because he had a twitch in his shoulder that no one else could see. I went to the clinic that I had been going to, but he saw the doctor who specialized in Children's issues.

I have continued to take both my children to the chiropractor as they have gotten older, especially for colds and ear infections. With all the talk about "no antibiotics" these days, I needed to take my kids somewhere that I felt they were being treated and not just seen. (Yes, they are sick. It just has to run its course. Call us in a week if it doesn't get any better.)

I have to say that we have also tried another Chiropractor, closer to our home. They got us through the hockey season and all the neck issues, but fell short in other areas. They were not children's specialists.

Good luck. Finding wheat works for you and your family is such a trial and error. Just be willing to shop around and trust your gut instincts.
