I'am thinking about letting my son go to Summer Camp (Van,Tx) for a week, and I've been looking into Sky Ranch.. Can you tell me the pro and cons about this camp..

What can I do next?

My niece and nephew worked as counselors at Sky Ranch for several summers and always liked it. Our kids went to Pine Cove and loved it. Pine Cove was the highlight of their summer. If cost is a factor, scholarships are available. They have a website you can check out. You take the Van exit and then it is another 20 minute drive from there. Good luck.

Believe the hype! Sky Ranch is a great camp! Kids absolutely LOVE it! Although it's not really advertised as such...it's a Christian based camp. They do a ton of activities and the counslers there are great. The only con I can think of is the cost of the camp.
My daughter goes to FC Church camp every year now by her choice. If you want info let me know.

Ditto to everyone's responses. It is expensive but I liked it. I work for a college who uses their facilities for weekend retreats with student clubs. A gal from church was a counselor one summer and loved working with the girls. I also had a friend who worked with the horses which are a great treat to some city kids, like the more adult ones we have taken. The only reservation I had was one of the more popular water activities, a inflated giant pillow on the water, you jump on it and eventually get catapulted into the lake/pool. Anyway, we never allowed our students to use this due to an accident that happened one of the first times we attended, it just isn't the safest at least not for adults, but I hear the kids love it.

I worked at Sky Ranch for 2 summers in the late 90's, and it is an INCREDIBLE place! There is a ton of stuff to do, the staff is great, and I never met a child who wasn't having a blast. I would HIGHLY recommend it!

I have heard WONDERFUL things about this camp. I went there once for a wedding and the place was beautiful. My mother is a 5th grade teacher and the school paid to have her class stay for the weekend and they had an awesome time. I also knew and amazing person who was a kids counselor there. They go through a lot of training. Sounds like a teriffic place.

My daughter went a couple yrs ago at age 10. She said it was "ok". There are a LOT of water activities and she felt pressured to do some things she did not want to do. She is not into lake activities. It was not as expensive as another camp she went to at 9 yrs old (Kickapoo in Kerrville) and the facilities were MUCH nicer and better quality at Sky Ranch. When given the option to go back she said no and this year she is going to fly alone (yikes) to see grandparents and cousins.

Good luck!
