I was just wondering if any real moms have tried this new acai berry diet everyone is raving about. i would like to loose 40lbs. i am getting back into the habit of exercising but i would like to have a little extra help

I have not tried the diet but my husband and I are both using an acai berry juice that has had many wonderful benefits. Don't, however, get caught up in the Monna Vie juice marketing (pyramid??? maybe) arrangement!!!! I wouldn't waste your money on the acai berry diet. However if you would like some help I am a pharmacist and herbalist. You could come in and I could do your body analysis looking at your muscle, fat, to water ratio and your basal metabolic rate and we could put a meal plan together for you as well as talk on exercise.

Essentially the difference between the Acai berry and a pomegranate or grape is essentially, drum roll, nothing. Don't waste your money.

My last child was born when I was 37 years old and I think that my metabolism was just about shot. I went to the gym and got a trainer and she told me a lot about diet and I also started doing yoga. I took of 25 pounds. I think that eating a lot of fiber is the greatest help. Just recently I had a friend tell me about bio-identical hormones. I went to a doctor and got a hormone check and found out that my thyroid was low and my progesterone is very low. I have been on those hormones since August and I have lost 10 more pounds. I really don't like the word diet because that implies a temporary fix, but rather I would do research on beneficial foods for your everyday diet.

If you are serious about loosing weight, and want some help keeping on track I would check out Sparkpeople.com! It is free. They have exercise advice, workout videos, nutrition tracker, a bunch of support groups, and many motivational tools. I absolutly love this site. A friend told me about it in Nov. but I wasnt really serious about it until 3 weeks ago. and I've been utilizing the tools on this site for the past 3 weeks and I have already lost 11 lbs! I am so excited! I am telling everyone about it! I dont think there is any magic pill or magic food that will simply get the weight off but there are other tools out there and I would definatly check out Sparkpeople.com! best of luck!

I am using the Acai Pure and I really do like it .
I like the antioxidents and all , and it really keeps me regular.... Like I can count on going to the bathroom right on time , most mornings after taking the Acai Pure before bed. I have no bad side affects , just a really good feeling of well being . I take a lot of other supplements , too though . I am 63 and thank the good Lord, I feel so wonderful ! I think all the things work together ... ''all things work together for good " LOL ,
But I do watch what I eat , and I exercise every day . And I love my Wii Fit .... it's not just one thing....it's all the things together , like I said . I lost 86 pounds with Weight Watchers online in 2003/2004 and have kept it off since then .... but it's hard , and I have to work at it every single day . And guess I will the rest of my life, but it's sooooooo worth it ! I can camp, and hike, and cross country ski....just whatever I want to do . With my Wii Fit the other day I have actually started jogging, and I was never a runner in my whole life time ! What I'm saying again, it's a combination of things ...the acai berry will not do it alone ..... Did any of this make sense ?

No that stuff does not work. You should look at a website call USANA.com. This company has many great products that helps you regulate your sugar intake. I use it and have lost 25 pounds so far. The ladies in my momma group would advise that it's a waste of money just like any get skinny quick sceme. A moderate diet and exercise is all that will work. We are actually doing the celiac diet just because my body seems to like it and I feel a ton better. The result has been some great weight loss that I didn't plan.

First...kudos to you for taking charge of your health!!!

Secondly, you will need to research acai berry and see if it is for you. Just like any "supplement", it can have some benefit, but overall, eating a healthful diet and being consistent with an exercise program, getting solid rest, managing stress are your best defenses.

Also, be kind to yourself. If you are trying to lose weight set goals that you can measure, for example, "I will eat 2 veggies and 2 friuts everday, or "I will perform 30-minutes of cardio exercises and 20-minutes of strength training exercises 3 days per week. Keep track of your workouts and grade yourself at the end of the week, to see if you met your goals...if you did...great...if not, look at what were the barriers that you faced.

Some other suggestions would be to keep a food diary of what you eat, read food labels, and drink water.

I have not tried Acai Berry, but I have done the Master Cleanse. I waited until after I was done nursing because it cleans out & detoxes your body. I love 11 pounds in 8 days. If you google "Master Cleanse" tons of info pops up. You can do the Cleanse for up to 40 days and people have kept online blog type journals while on the cleanse. My husband and I both loved it as we slept better, felt better, had more energy, less moody, and the dark circles under my eyes went away. I think my husband lost 15 punds in 8 days. It is really hard on your kidneys, so it is only recommended that you do it 2-3 times a year. I heard about it while getting a massage at massage envy in American Fork and my therapist suggested it after we were discussing different diets. Check it out when you are not nursing. You can buy the ingredients at you local grocery store usually. The onl y thing I had a hard time finding was Maple Syrup Grade B...but they have it at Good Earth (but it is outrageously priced).

First of all, good for you for getting back into exercising it can make you feel so much better. I cant help with the acai berry diet, though I have read a lot how acai is suppose to be a really good source for antioxidants(they are also pretty tasty. But I would say not to waste your money on any fad or any get thin schemes out there. Anything that says you could lose more than 2 pounds per week may need to be looked at. It is not good for your body to loose too much at once, it will also go into starvation mode and then you stall out. For most weight loss to be successful you need to adopt a mind set of this is a healthy life change vrs a diet. I think that is why Weight Watchers have been so successful. So if you can spend money on a diet I would go with them. ( I didnt take that route but have a lot of friends and co workers that use them) Really the key is watching what you eat and exercise. Its a pain in the tushy(literally at times) but its worth it. There is a great web site called dailyplate. com that helps you track what and how much you eat. You tell it your weight and how much you want to loose each week and it tells you how many calories you should eat in a day. Believe me I am not a natural skinny person and have to work and remind myself daily, but its been worth it (65 pounds in 10 months) Good luck and best wishes.

Hello J.,
I am currently on an 8-week weight loss challenge & I have incorporated acai berries into this challenge. I have only used them for 1 week & they are HIGH in antioxidents, so I am giving them a chance to see if they increase my weightloss.
