Has Anyone Experienced This Before? Should I Be Concerned?

I'm currently not on any birth control and my significant other and I are using the pull-out method right now (I know, not a very reliable source of birth control). I just got over my period which only lasted about 2 1/2 days, but my nipples are still REALLY sore and I am extremely tired. My question to you ladies is, has anyone experienced anything like this before? I'm just wondering if I should call my OB/GYN and speak to a nurse to make sure nothing is wrong. Thanks for your insight!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I did take a couple pregnancy tests and I got a negative and a faint positive. I called my dr's office and went in and did a urine test in the office which was negative. They sent me for a blood test and I just got the results which were negative. So, I'm not pregnant. But my nipples are still very sore and I'm still bloated feeling. My dr's office had no idea why my nipples would still be sore. They told me to call them back if it doesn't go away.

Just another follow up to this. It has been about a week since I posted my first question, by nipples are still sore and yesterday I noticed one of them is leaking a small amount of fluid (looks like a cloudy white color). I have to go see the nurse practioner tomorrow so they can run some other tests.

Take a pregnancy test, then call OB/GYN.

Now you know that men dribble before they shoot. If you're not pregnant and don't want to become pregnant, use birth control.

Sweetie, if you don't want to be pregnant, use another method of birth control! The "pull-out method" is definitely not reliable!

I second the pregnancy test. I had semi-regular spotting during my first trimester that I would have easily mistaken for a short period, had I not already known I was pregnant.
Then get yourself on reliable birth control, unless you want another baby.
Good luck.

I don't think there is anything to worry about at this point. Just take a home pregnacy test. Women often get their periods or show some spotting when they are pregnant.

I'm not sure if you want to hear this...but you may be pregnant. Same thing happened with my first. Thought I had my period, it was short and lite and then the nipples were sore and VERY tired. Went to the dr. b/c I had my regular checkup and they took a pregnancy test. Sure enough I was pregnant.

have you taken a pregnancy test? My now two year old is the result of the pull out method. All it takes is one swimmer on the right day to make a baby...

When I got pregnant with my 2nd child I thought I had a short period as well. It actually was the implantation bleeding occurring. I'd take a test pronto.

Have you taken a pregnancy test just to out rule that as a possibility? It could also be from the hormones in your body. Some people are more sensitive while others are not. I know you said you had a period, but it also could of been implantation spotting. I would first outrule the fact that you might be pregnant, and then if they are still wore call your OB/GYN and see advice.

Good Luck!!!

both times I got pregnant on the last day of bleeding, please get a pregnancy test and if you aren't pregnant, use a more reliable method. You are currently trying to get pregnant whether you want to or not, that is going to be the end result.

Just like everyone else, you may be pregnant. The best thing to do is take a pregnancy test. I had spotting when my period was due a couple times, which ended in miscarriages. Right now I am pregnant with baby number 3 and when my period was due it was just light spotting but lasted the whole time my regular period would have lasted. Sure enough I knew something wasn't right and took a test and now I'm pregnant with baby number 3. It is very normal to have an abnormal periods once in a while, but because of your other symptoms I am guessing it's most likely implantation spotting. Definitely take a test.

With my first pregnancy, I had a super short, light "period" before I found out I was pregnant. It was actually implantation bleeding. I was also extremely tired, and my boobs hurt like heck!! I knew I was pregnant from these symptoms before I even missed my period. Take a test. Then call your dr. And like everyone else said, use a better form of birth control (even if it's just condoms).

Tender breast doesn't mean you are actually prego. Your period only lasting that long could be from a few things...your age, etc. We use the pull out method ALL the time in the last decade in a half. We have never became prego from using that method. We do have 4 kids, but it's never from the pull-out method, always intentional. My breasts are sometimes like that also after a period. You also probably could use some more iron in you. We lose blood during our cycle which can cause us to become fatigue. Anyhow, that's just me. If you have a Dollar Tree near you, they sell tests for $1 & they work in case you want to ease your mind.

Yes what everyone else said... sounds like you may be pregnant. They don't call it "pull and pray" for nothing (or maybe you forgot to pray!) Best of luck. If you get a negative test and still feel "off", I'd wait a week and then take another test.

You're right - it's not a reliable method.

I would see your OBGyn as even if you had some bleeding, you could still be pregnant. That is how my first pregnancy started and how I became aware of it.

That is the "method" we use.......and we have 4 children!!

Do a home pregnancy test, the nurse will tell you the same.

Hope it turns out how you wish, but even surprises are a true blessing!

You are right - the Pull-Out Method is the least reliable form of birth control. If you do not know when your body ovulates, it's entirely possible you are pregnant.

Take a home pregnancy test. Either way - positive or negative, make an appointment with your OB/GYN to get you on another form of birth control.

I'm just guessing but you're probably pregnant. a 2 1/2 period was probably the egg implanting into the uterus. happened to me on my unexpected first and never guessed I was pregnant b/c "I had my period last month" but I never noticed it was only 3 days long. Congrats if you are b/c even though we were quite surprised, it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened...it started our family. :)

Sounds like you're prego. Too soon to take a test though. If you really don't want to have a baby, then talk to your Dr. about the morning after pill, but hurry.
