Last week I took some items to a consignment shop, and checked my account today because I knew they were having a celebrity auction. I was sooooooo excited to see two of my three items sold!!!! I want to continue on with children's stuff clothing/accessories, but don't know of any shops for children with the exception of resale stores.

Has anyone consigned clothing, etc. What has your experience been like satisfying, dissatisfying?

What can I do next?

i did consignment sales vs shops. You get higher percentage of your sale back. check out consignmentmommies.com to see what sales are in your area.

I do the Just Between Friends consignment for the kid's clothes. I love it! They have two sales per year, one in the fall and one in the spring. You prep the clothes by hanging them and attaching tags, then just drop everything off. Consigners get to shop early, and if you volunteer you can shop even earlier and take a higher cut on your sales, generally about 70%. I usually make enough at each consignment to then buy the next season's worth of clothes for the kiddo.

Just participated in my first local mom-to-mom consignment sale. I was very pleased with the results. Start looking in all of the mom-publications for your area & google mom-to-mom sales....therre's got to be some in your area. Ours here is twice per year:spring/fall. After this O., I am definitly doing the spring sale as well.

Frustrating. I agree that it takes too much work and time for the money you get back. I had a really cute wooden and painted children's book shelf at a consignment store for over three months. I was surprised it didn't sell. I had NO luck selling kids' clothes at a mostly adult consignment store. I prefer the children's only stores where they buy your things outright instead of selling them by consignment. A much easier option is to donate them to a worthwhile charity and get a tax deduction, although I do take designer label, gently worn items to the type of store I mentioned where they buy the items from you (although it's still not much money).

I found it more work than it worth. The consignment shops in our area require that you wash, iron and provide a hanger for all the clothes then they sell it for $3.00. By the time you get the clothes ready, drive them to the store, wait in line for the attendant to look through your things, take back the things they don't want, getting rid of what they don't want, sorting through everything and remember to check with them to see if anything sold....All that work and you get a nice big check for $5.00!
