My hair is still falling out since my last daughter was born almost 12 years ago. It falls out when I comb it, wash it, just putting hairspray on, stirands still fall out. I don't have any bald spots but it's a wonder i don't. Can anyone suggest anything to help with my hair loss. I've tried nioxin, and although it feels minty fresh in my hair it hasn't helped. Someone suggested wen but I've also Reese that it made it worse. Help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow, thanks everyone for your suggestions and input. I will definitely look further into all that was mentioned.
I'm not really that worried about my hair loss, just trying to get a solution. Like I said before, I have no bald spots so thats a good thing. I will keep everyone posted on what happens. Thanks again

I lost hair too...But eventually it slowed...Two years ago, I had gastric bypass and they warned me not to be alarmed by my hair loss (they were not kidding). They said it would be b/c of the lack of nutrition due to my intake. I was told it was the protein I was lacking...I would try to really get in chicken or fish (nothing fried)...If that's too hard - Do what I do and sprinkle protein powder on everything. It's hard for me to eat a significant amount of food...So, I use protein powder to help supplement. It takes some getting used to...But worth it. I still lose hair, but just everyday kind of stuff...Nothing major.
Good luck!

I would really recommend getting your thyroid checked. Hair loss is often a sign of a thyroid problem, which can be pregnancy induced, and is treatable! There is also a condition called alopecia. Have your doctor check for both.

If you are really concerned, I would go to the dermatologist for a diagnosis. Some people just lose (and replace) hair more than others - we all do to some extent.

If you are not going bald then you are growing hair to replace it. I shed like crazy but I am also always growing new hair. I think you need to figure out if you hair is actually less dense. If it is not I don't think you need to worry.

Look into thyroid issues and PCOS online and see if you have some of the symptoms besides the hair loss - see an endocrinologist. Sometimes people have issues with hormones and they get worse or out of whack when they have children (like get better with pregnancy and then worse afterwards).

I agree with Mrsl'srocketlaunchers. Mine ended up being a thyroid problem. My hair still falls out a lot, but it grows back faster than ever, no bald spots either. That little tiny thyroid regulates so much in our body and that includes our hormones... Get it checked, and dont worry, doctor told me on a average we lose hundred of strands of hair a day. Having long hair, so looks like more than you think... Good Luck.

150 is daily norms, if you feel that it's more than that then check it out. It could be as small as some kind of vitamin deficiency. I hope you are taking daily multivitams. Please keep us posted.

Hi T.,

This is caused by a nutritional imbalance that can be corrected with an absorbable multivitamin/mineral complex. Things can get imbalanced when we go through childbirth..even exacerbate things that are already out of whack.

If you'd like some speific suggestions, private message me, I'd love to help...

PS My 21 year old future son in law has his hair growing back in....

This is going to sound like a sales pitch, but it's not. Just something you may want to explore. I used to work for a company that produces the Hairmax Lasercomb. It sounds nutty, but I used to work in customer service and would speak to people and it did work. Not 100% of the time. But it had a good success rate. And I think since I left it even got FDA approval. Anyway, like I said, you may want to check it out. I got one for my sister who suffered from hair loss and it helped her. She's since stopped using it b/c it's kind of a pain. But if you commit to really trying it, it should work.

Have your Dr. run some tests and thyroid sounds like a good place to start if they say everything is OK contact me Arbonne has a great product that helps with Hair Loss called Thermal Fusion for the scalp that actually works. I have before and after pictures also. Stress can cause this and so many other things so be sure to get it checked out.

I just want to add my voice to those suggesting you get your thyroid checked. Make sure that a doctor who is familiar with the latest standards does it. You should get a full panel of TSH, T4 and T3, although they usually look at TSH first. The posted norms for TSH are from 1-5, but I've been dealing with this for years and my endocrinologist and I have determined I'm symptomatic unless my TSH stays at 2 or below. (Even though 3, 4 and 5 are technically normal.)

If it is thyroid, you will feel so much better--and grow your hair back!--when it's managed. If not, at least that will be elminated. I hope you find a solution!

I'd suggest you explore nutrition and hormone balancing, as something is imbalanced in that regard if you have excessive hair falling out. You can probably do a Google search with key words like "nutrition hormones hair loss" and find relevant input. For more specific guidance you can consult a natural doctor or nutrition pro.
