How long does it take to have a period after having an IUD out? I had My IUD out on Sept 9th. When I had the IUD in I wouldn't have a normal period. I would spot for a couple days and that would be it. I kept track of the spotting the last couple months I had it in. If I followed that "cycle" I should of had my period on Sept 24th. well its oct. 4th and still no period. Has this happened to anyone? I'm tired of wearing pantyliners "waiting" for my period to start.

Unfortunately it can take up to 6 months after removal for your cycle to regulate. I had mine removed at the end of July and had 3 days of light bleeding in both August and September, but nothing like a normal period.

If you had the mirena, it could take a while as the mirena contains hormones that actually thin the uterus to stop periods. Good luck!

I think it depends on the type of IUD you had. If you had one like Mirena, where the hormone thins out the lining of the uterus, it may take several cycles for the lining to build up again. You should still be feeling the pre-period symptoms, and that should hopefully gauge when you are about have one. If you are really concernedm call your doctor's office and talk to the nurse. They should be able to give you some direction.

Gosh. You JUST had it out! I would give your body at least a couple of months to readjust! I'm sure it will be just fine! I'm thinking seriously about having mine mine removed this Spring to try for another baby. Good luck!
