Dr. Tenpenny's website has a lot of information on H!N! vaccination. Lots of links to CDC reference materials. http://drtenpenny.com/swine_flu_hype.aspx
I was wondering if anyone has or is getting their child the H1N1 vaccine? I have heard some controversial issues about the vaccine. What do you think?
Dr. Tenpenny's website has a lot of information on H!N! vaccination. Lots of links to CDC reference materials. http://drtenpenny.com/swine_flu_hype.aspx
I got it for my younger son (5 yrs) through the flumist with NO side effects. In the meantime my older son has gotten H1N1 and I'm thankful that my younger will not have to go through it also.
The vaccine has not been pushed through as fast as people are saying. They have been working on it since early spring when H1N1 started out and is made the same way as the regular flu shot. My ped. gave it to his own young children and I was perfectly comfortable giving it to mine.
I say if you are not against vaccines in general there is no reason to be afraid of this one!
I've been on the fence about this too and think we will proceed, after talking with the pediatrician about it one more time next week when he's supposed to get the vaccine in.
I read early on that children under 10 would need two vaccines for h1n1, then I heard it wasn't necessary except for very young children, and then I read again recently that the recommendation IS to have two shots one month apart.
Given that there are so few vaccines available, my question for the pediatrician will be - what if in a month you can't get a second shipment of the vaccine? Will it mean the first was a waste of time or will it help a little but not fully?
My daughter is on two immunosuppressive medications for her juvenile arthritis AND she has asthma, so I have been extremely worried about her getting h1n1. I have asked her school to notify me whenever they have reported cases (she goes to private school) so I can keep her home if there is an increase. And we have declined birthday party invites to places like Chuck E Cheese where there is a higher risk of her coming in contact with germs. We have been doing activities outside with minimal exposure to other people (e.g. trip to Fossil Rim).
If your child has no underlying health issues, then I wouldn't vaccinate, but for those of us with children who have health issues, I am inclined to think that vaccinating is probably better than getting the h1n1 flu.
I have heard of some kids getting very mild cases and others being hospitalized for several days. I have not heard about any side effects impacting children who had the h1n1 vaccine. If anyone has, please email me.
I have read Dr. Mercola's site and reviewed dozens of other opinions, but most who are against it downplay the deaths as being the media and pharmaceutical companies making this bigger than it really is. They say that if you look at the numbers, the kids who die or are hospitalized are the ones with underlying health issues as if kids who have a chronic illness that have died or been hospitalized should not be taken seriously. Most don't go as far to say "if your child has an underlying health issue, you should vaccinate". Makes my blood pressure rise just thinking about all this...
This question is like asking what religion you should be. I've been reading the responses, and it sounds you either believe in vaccines or you don't. You'll get thousands of responses from both sides.
my 2 boys each got the shot Wed. no worries.
Absolutely, positively!!!!!!!!! This Tuesday in fact!
The H1N1 vaccine is in a carrier solution that has squalene and thimerosol (mercury) in it. Both of these substances are dangerous and highly toxic. The best defense against any flu is to keep the body's natural defenses strong.
If you want to read more about this, check out the information on Dr. Mercola's website www.mercola.com .
As another poster has stated, this vaccine has been rushed into production without proper testing.
None of us are getting any flu shots of any kind.

Almost ALL vaccines have thermisol (mercury) in them, it is the preservative in them. Some don't, you have to ask. The mist does not have thermisol in it and from what I have heard most of the vaccines out there for H1N1 are the mist. I have also read and been told that the base for the vaccine is the same as all other flu vaccines, just the strain is different.
That said. Our pedi had H1N1 vax in but only for 2-3 yr olds, so my 3 yr old got the first half of his vaccine as the mist. My 6 yr was too old so he has not had. Both my boys have been exposed at school and have not gotten sick, but I don't want to risk it. We all got the seasonal vax as well.
My 3 yr old got the spray about a month ago and there was no side effects. Our family also gets the regular flu shots every year too. The H1N1 vaccine is made just like they make the regular flu shot, they just replace it with the H1N1 strain.
As much as I don't wan't to get the H1N1 flu...I am not going to get the shot for it. My son who is eight had the H1N1 flu and it only lasted about 4-5 day's and it was pretty mild except for the fever. We both did have the seasonal flu shot and so far so good. I just don't trust the H1N1 vacination since they put it out so quickly and it hasn't been tested that much. When they do test it more, then I will consider it. Good luck to you. :)

I would never give my child that shot or myself. It has not been adequately tested. It does have mercury and many other toxins in it. Getting the H1N1 would be much safer than getting that shot! I would suggest looking at Dr. mercola website like mentioned to you by someone who responded. The mist is just as bad and the mist contains the LIVE virus, which then can be spread by your child sneezing or wiping his nose and some say it can do that for up to 21 days!!!!! I am a mom that has a child who was vaccine injured. I have done my research and traveled all over this country to get answers. Believe me, you DO NOT want to have what I have on your plate! You are such a great mom to even ask! Most people are just believing what their doctors are telling them and we are having an epidemic of autism and other disorders because of it. The one thing I have learned on this LONG journey of mine is to listen more to my gut and other mommys in the same boat who work tirelessly to help and prevent this from happening to their precious kiddos! I have other info if you feel you would like to look at some other FACTS...then email me and I will send you some.

NOPE, not my daughter...or us.
Our daughter actually had the H1N1 and it was mild. It does hit very fast and we had about 24-30 hrs of high fever and then she rested a lot.
Our pedi does not give Tamiflu. Daughter beat it on her own (age 14) with no drugs. Our pedi only gives Tamiflu to children with underlying health issues.
We will not get the vaccine.
EDIT: We are NOT anti-vaccine. We are just anti H1N1
If your children have underlying health issues I would consider it. My 3 yr. old son had H1N1 in Sept. and was hopitalized at Children's in Plano for 5 days. It attacked his lungs and he ended up with Bacterial Pneumonia. He had RSV as a baby and uses a nebulizer maybe two to three times a year when he gets wheezy, but he does not have full blown asthma. It happened very fast (within 2 days). We are typically a very healthy family...eat organically, clean organically, active, etc. But I chose to get the vaccine to avoid something like this happening again. FYI we also have a 2 mo. old in the house as well as a kindergartener, so the germs are constantly incoming. My husband, myself, and our Kindergartener got the mist and had no problems what so ever. My 3 yr. old can't get the mist, so we have to wait on the shot for him.
I work in a pediatric office and we have given several kids the vaccine, including the doctor and I. Believe it or not, we have had no one call and complain of any side effects. Some have had a mild fever, as you can with any vaccine. We have even given the nasal mist which is a live virus, and still no side effects reported. We had more kids who got high fever and body aches from the seasonal flu mist vaccine than we have from the H1N1 vaccine!
My two kids (one is 3 yrs. and the other is 11 months) will be getting their vaccines on Monday. The vaccine has been pretty difficult to find. Our peds office has a Twitter account so that you can find out when they get a delivery and can call to schedule an appointment. After several deliveries we finally managed to get an appointment. I am very confident in our pediatrician and believe that he would not advise us to do it if it were not safe. That is not to say that I am not a little bit nervous thanks to all of the hype around the lack of testing. However, my kids catch every cold and virus that goes around and they are in daycare 5 days a week so I believe this is the right choice for us. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Personally, I'm on the fence. We do vaccinate and we have already had the regular flu shot.
I highly recommend you talk to your pediatrician...and even run it by your primary care physician as well just to get some other opinions. You should share any underlying conditions - those will affect your situation differently than the rest of us. Ask your doc if they plan on giving it to themselves or their kids (their circumstances might be different).
Read the latest on the CDC and the APA (or is that AAP?). Read stuff on the internet that is more recent. If you are reading older articles or postings, the scenario may have changed now that they have the shot available.
Good luck with your decision.
Nope not this one or any other.
