My best friend's husband has recently graduated with his nursing degree and she is throwing him a party this Saturday. I feel like I should bring him a gift for his accomplishments, but I'm at a loss as to what to bring. It doesn't have to be expensive, just a little something. My husband said to just bring him beer, but the party is at their church, so I don't think it's quite appropriate. Thanks for your ideas!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the great ideas! I think I'll go with the gift card to a local restaurant. They both deserve a night out. :)

I second the motion for the dinner out and the babysitting. It would be great for them to be able to go out - and when one spouse has achieved a degree, it's an indication that the other spouse as worked hard being a support and an encouragement.

Do you have a butcher shop in town or a grocery store that has a good meat counter? A gift card for good steaks and a gourmet meat rub would be a great gift. Maybe even through in some grilling tools. Or if he isn't into grilling, a gift card to a nice restaurant would be great.

This is going to sound hokey, but orthopedic socks are the bomb. com! Being on your feet all day, your dogs are barking by the end of a busy shift. They really cut down on sore legs/feet and help with circulation too! I love them. Prolly find a pair less than $10. Pens in black ink-but I really wouldn't go to the trouble of buying nice pens-they grow legs and walk off.

That's funny, that would be what my husband would suggest...beer. Along those lines, what about a nice bottle of wine or champagne. It's classy and I don't think the church people would mind.

Otherwise, I would agree with a gift certificate, maybe for a fun brunch or breakfast place, dinner if you want to spend more.

I would get a cheesy nursing-related coffee mug. :)

Or, if he drinks coffee, some Starbucks gift cards. Being a nurse, he's gonna need them! ;)

I think a gift card for dinner and an offer to babysit (assuming they have kids) would be great. Nursing school is so time consuming, I'm sure a night out to unwind would be much appreciated!
