Good Pool in Austin for 3 and 4 Year Olds

I am thinking ahead, excitedly, to summer with all this warm weather! I am curious to see if anyone has ideas for a good Austin pool to take 3 and 4 year old kids to? Something centrally located if possible. I also have an infant, so I am looking for something with a really good baby/wading pool. Our neighborhood pool is great, but it is really hard to take both kids in by myself.

What can I do next?

I really like the children's pool at the East Austin YMCA. It's just off 183 at the intersection of 51st or 52nd. I plan to take my now 5-month-old there this summer. I wish they had pictures online, but here's their Web site: http://www.austinymca.org/locations/7

The kid's pool area has a sloped entrance to the water, so little ones should be able to sit in the water and splash around. For bigger kids, there are places to climb, shooting water, and other fun stuff. Hope this helps. Best of luck in your search!

Deep Eddy is great for young kids. The shallow end is huge and very gradual - it starts at less than a foot deep - or close. Beware - the water is freezzing. My kids never seem to mind it though. I have not gotten in past my knees though.

Hi!
We love the YMCA pool on McNiel.
Also, Volente Beach has a great Pirate ship - the pool is about 10" deep and lots of fun (season passes are $35)
Have fun!

When my kids were that age, the pool at Westenfield Park worked out really well. It's at the north corner of Enfield and the southboard MoPac access road. Most people park on the access road. The shallow end is shallow enough for a 3-year-old to wade and swim in without being carried, leaving your arms free for your infant. The entire pool is fenced in, which is very helpful. Plus, it's small compared to Mabel Davis, not cold compared to Deep Eddy, relatively uncrowded all the time, and it's free. Plus, there's a small playground and large park with running-around room adjacent to the pool--neither is ever crowded.

Hi,

When my kids were little I would always take them to Mabel Davis Pool South off Woodward and Parker lane.

The Pool is huge that people are not running into you and children's is area is huge too.

Good luck,

M.

Little Stacy pool is awesome. It is small and the area is fenced so you can't lose your kids. It ranges from about 1 to 2 feet deep, there are lifeguards and most of the pool is shaded by a gorgeous live oak. It is also free.
Deep Eddy and Northwest Park both have great kid pools that are large and shallow. Lots of room to splash and play w/out it being deep at all. When my daughter was a baby I'd take her there and sit w/ her in the water while my 3yo played all around us.
Shipe Park in Hyde Park also has a nice free kids pool. Shallow, shaded and fenced and has lifeguards.
