How about something to do, like an art class, season pass to an amusement park, a summer camp that is interesting.
My daughter is turning 6 soon.
Its hard to think about what to get her for her birthday because she isn't one of those kids who " wants " certain things.
She loves playing outside and she loves arts and crafts. Gosh we have a huge art bin already.
What are some of the cool toys right now? What are some fun things I could get her interested in? She doesn't really dig barbies or babies. She's never been that type of gal. She just loves to get creative.
Any ideas?

My daughter is 6 and some of her favorite toys are her LeapPad, Lego Friends and she loves books. I got her a huge stack of computer paper (she's always looking for ours), fun pens, note pads, tape, post-its and other misc office supplies - she loves writing and paper.
Oh, your daughter may be at an age to have her own CD player/radio and some Kidz Bop CDs. My daughter loves that she has the "in" songs she hears on the radio, and I love that the songs on the CD are the ones with kid friendly lyrics.
A pogo stick, a razor scooter, a zip line, a trampoline, a treehouse, a giant art kit (from an art supply store) in a wood carrying case, blank tshirts, bags (or whatever they have) and lots of fabric paint. Good luck coming up with a good idea!
How about some fun outside toys like a pogo stick and pads or roller blades or skates. My son loved his bug catching stuff when he was that age. They make a clear vac type bug catcher that is really neat. You could get her her very own gardening tools if you are into that stuff in your yard. Maybe she could start her own veggie garden and watch it grow!
These are little things, but I bought my 6 yo a hula hoop and jump rope from Target the other day and wow! She's been hula-ing and jumping ever since. Like non-stop. It's been really fun to watch, actually! There's also a really cute book that I purchased called: Anna Banana: 101 Jump Rope Rhymes. She's been pouring over that, memorizing the rhymes, then teaching all her friends at school. Pretty cute.

Magna tiles blocks are great. My kids play with them every day!
She'd probably love to take a painting class with you at Painting with a Twist, Frisco. Everyone paints the same thing and they lead you through it step by step. they have lots of kid-cute designs to choose from. I'm looking forward to when my daughter turns 6 and we can take her.
Does she have a bike?
Sprinkler attachment for the hose?
What about a throw-back toy basket? Ball & jacks, hula hoop, sidewalk chalk, 4 Square Ball, Slinky, Magic 8 Ball, Bubble blower, sprinkler head?
I have the same problem for my just turned seven, who really isn't into toys (besides dinosaurs, which have overrun our house.) She is very artsy, but like you (and both of her parents being artists by profession) our house is FULL of everything you'd ever want to create with.
A few fun things I've gotten her...
Doodle books. Kind've give you an outline of what to draw..."decorate the cake, draw a design for the bedspread, etc." THey have them in hundreds of themes.
Maybe time for a more structured craft? My daughter enjoys doing potholders, and yarn and yarn needles have recently become her best friends.
Check out some Ed Emberley art/drawing books for kids - if she is into art, they show how to draw things with simple shapes and lines and she's at a perfect age for them. There is a thumbprint one too.
a kids tablet. she can download games, apps, books to read.
Have you considered making her an art nook or a drawing wall? I know you can get the kind of paint that makes a chalkboard. You could designate the lower area on a wall in her room or playroom for it and she could have a huge canvas. Or you could get a huge (cheap) picture frame and put it on a wall and that be the place for her to display all of her art. Or, for that matter, multiple frames for her to have a rotating display. Sometimes we get really big roles of paper and tack a long sheet on our yard fence and just let our daughter go to town with paints and glue for nature stuff. Our daughter has very similar interests to yours so she has a scooter, bike and trampoline which she loves but I like to try to come up with unique gifts ideas as well that can't necessarily be bought in a store. Hope the ideas you've received spur your own creativity!
