What can I give my friend's son who is 12 years old.
He's a picky eater but tries his best to eat healthy.
He likes to work out with his dad.
I was thinking weight lifting gloves but not sure he'd use them.
I can only spend $10-15
Any other ideas? TIA

What can I do next?

My son is around that age. You could do a number of gift cards:
iTunes
Barnes and Noble
Smoothie type places
Movie theater

If you want something more personal you might think about a fitness magazine and a new water bottle with a sweat towel maybe?

I also like to give cash in the amount of years the child is. I've never had anything but grins.

Blessings!

Does he like camping or fishing? How about a flashlight, a pocketknife, some fishing lures? Some small hand weights? A good sports water bottle? A pedometer? iTunes cards are a safe bet, or a gift card for a sporting goods store.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him!!

Does he have an MP3 player? Iphone, Ipad? if so - an iTunes gift card.

Does he read? If so, then a gift card to a book store.

Does he have any activities like baseball or soccer? Maybe a gift card to a local sporting goods store?

If you are close to him - maybe take him out for a day - let him pick out a book or something else....

I also like the cash idea. If I have enough time, I go to the Bank or credit union (call ahead) and get $2.00 bills or the Gold Dollar coins..

Never had a kid complain about cash.

I'd probably do a gift card at a book store so he can get a book on body building or food or something he enjoys. Also they often have other stuff too.

What does he do besides working out with his Dad?
Let him and his Dad, get work out stuff, together. That is their thing.

In my city, with kids of all ages, even middle school and high school, and elementary, the "Kendama" toy is very popular. And the national champs are like "rock stars." They came to my city last year during the holidays. There were THOUSANDS of kids, who went to see them.
Look up the Kendama toy on Amazon.
Most every kid, in my city, has it.
There is even a Pro Team for Kendama.

Oh and yes, my kids have it too.
There are many tricks, you can do with it.
It is quite challenging.
Not a "baby" toy at all.
Even the adults, play it.
