Gift for Two Year Old Girl

My daughter is 4 and she got a doll house when she was 2. She has played with is a lot along with her older brother (he's 7). Also legos (duplos) are good toys, both my kids still play with them. Doll stuff like a crib or bassinet since she likes playing with dolls. Sidewalk chalk, pip squeak markers (very washable and small), magna doodle, kitchen set or a plastic tea set.

My kids (now 6 and 3) have had one of those big tubs of play food for 3 years now, and they still use it almost every day. My daughter got a plastic tea set when she was two that still gets near daily use.

She will love a little kitchen for years!

Doll house, or a kitchen will last for years. My 2 year old daughter loves purses, she has a Dora one and she carrys it everywhere. Melissa and Doug has really awesome toys too. We got our daughter a lot of those for Christmas. She loves the large wooden beads and they come with a shoe lace, and she loves the blocks.

We bought our daughter a beautiful hand-painted toy chest from Etsy when she turned 2. It is gorgeous and now she has a place to put all the toys she has accumulated the last couple of years.

My parents bought her a child-size table and chairs. Mine loves art, too, and this turned out to be a fantastic investment. She uses it almost every day.

We got a lot of use out of our daughter's Fisher Price starter doll house. That's a good one.

Another idea is an art desk. Our daughter gets a ton of use out of hers. If you pick the right one, it can grow with her over the next few years.

My daughter loves dress up. If she likes to play dress up I recommend plenty of dress up clothes.

What about a small bike with training wheels? We got one used and bought the training wheels and my daughter LOVES it! She started riding it about 2 and she caught onto riding it pretty quickly. We just upgraded her to a bigger model this week (she's 3.5 now) and that's a big hit too!

A sandbox is a good idea, but those are a mess, I prefer to play with them at the park, it cuts down on the sand intake of my house! ;) A doll house is a good idea. My daughter likes the Fisher Price fairy tree house thing. She also got a princess castle that has smaller figures that she plays with quite a bit. Her most favorite doll that she never parts with is a Little Mommy doll. From what I've seen those are a bit hit with most kids!! My daughter would be thrilled with any of the products from that line like a changing table, high chair, etc.

I am with your hubby on this one. We did not buy a single gift for our son till he was three. he gets soo much for christmas and having a birthday in jan its kind of pointless. we get tons of stuff he would not even notice that mommy and daddy bought anything. for our daughter after she was born i bought her a madame alexander huggims doll she can play with. it was about thirty bucks but it was special to me as i still have my ma doll from when i was a baby. other than that we dont buy gifts yet! you could get her some dress up clothes too.

What about a PillowPet?
Or a trip to Build A Bear?

My daughter just turned two in March and she adores her 'babies'. She also loves any kind of art related items, especially stampers and paint. We are still working on the kitchen idea, but I'm sure your daughter would love that too. Fred Meyer(if you have one) has the Step2 Custom kitchen on sale right now. Puzzles are also a hit around here. We have the FP dollhouse, but my daughter mostly plays with the people rather than the house. Oh and of course books are awesome. Also a water table would be fun this time of year. HTH!

How about a tutu and princess dress up clothes? Especially if there is a matching outfit for her baby doll.

Ditto on the kitchen and/or doll house or doll baby care center.

She still (now 5.5) looks at it longingly. It is just a perfect sized for a 2-3yo.

The big one piece kitchen set. I have one for my daycare & it's a perfect activity for 2yo's! Even the boys love it.

If she likes dolls & has a stroller....how about a doll bed, high chair, etc. Really set it up so she can enjoy those dolls. There's even a doll care center available.....with tub, dressing table, etc. !!

My almost 2-year old has the toy that Emily S. suggested, the fairyland playhouse. She LOVES it - plays with it every day. She even takes her weebles and her mickey characters & toy story friends (she has an older brother too ;) and puts them in the fairy house sometimes. The only complaint I have is that the front door comes off sort of easily - but it's easy to put back on too. She actually likes taking it off and bringing it to us to put back on for her. It's a great present for her age!

The day I was buying it there was another mom in the store who had an older daughter and said she wished so much she could buy it but her baby was too old for it!

You certainly don't need to spend much--for one of my daughter's early bdays, we gave her sand toys from Dollar Tree. She got presents from grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends at a party; there wasn't a need for more stuff. She could use a few toys in her sand box, and they didn't take up any room in the house, and we spent almost nothing. :)

We did a personalized backpack one year for a very young niece. It was supercute and very practical (her parents could cart her stuff around in it) and one less toy to have around.

If you are looking for something special, you might try some websites that have cute personalized things for her room or something like that.

If she loves to draw, they have a very inexpensive easel at IKEA (I assume they still have it--the last time I bought replacement paper there was a year ago). If you get it, make sure you buy the paper that goes with it. If you want to spend more, there are better quality easels elsewhere.

My daughter turned 2 back in Feb. her favorite gift was the bubbles her aunt got her.

I think I a doll house would be lovely. That going to be a christmas gift along with a bunch of dress up stuff.

If you have room outside, get her a sandbox. My 2 yr. old stays out there as long as we'll let her!

Or even just a little watering can. You won't believe how many times she'll fill it up and water the flowers or even just the dirt. :)

Fisher Price also makes dolls called "Snap 'n Style" that are made for 2 yr. olds. The clothes easily snap on & off, so kids can dress them up. My daughter loves hers.

If your little girl likes to play with dolls I would suggest buying doll clothes. She will spend hours of fun not to mention that it is good eye hand co-ordination skills for her to use. Happy Birthday little one.

But yes, she is 2. They are not all 'into' presents yet, nor have that expectation at Birthdays, like older kids do.

But as you said, the house is full of "boy" things.
So nice for her to get some girl things.
