Hello Ladies,
I wanted to get my Sweetie a gift in the way that we get shower gifts. BabyCenter moms mentioned gifts ranging from albums for just the baby and daddy, to getting the baby clothes in styles that dad likes (e.g rock star tee's). My sweetie is so excited about being a father, I wanted to get him something. I'm so blessed to have a man in my life that will be there for his child and he deserves the same attention, even though he cant give birth to our son. Any suggestions ladies. I do like the album idea because he likes to take pictures, but I've never seen any albums like that.
I have decided to make the baby shower co-ed. Thanks for the advice. I'm also going to make sure I keep an album for him and our son only.

Congratulations! Since it sounds like he is going to be a "hands on" dad, what about a diaper bag for him? I know they now carry "male diaper bags" pretty much everywhere. A few friends of mine have them. You could also stuff it with things he might do with the baby, like a soft baseball and some of the "rocker tees" or something. I like the album idea too, but I haven't seen any either. Good luck!
My friend made a book for her husband called "daddy and me" it was full of oictures of her son with his father. On the page of them at the park it said "we go to the park, just daddy and me" things like that all through the book, it's really sweet. of course you would have to wait untill the baby and daddy could go out to do these things.
I've done a photo album online at Photoworks.com and it turned out great!!!! I got my hubby some books on being a first time parent/father. The other thing I did for him was go to a ceramics studio and painted a ceramic picture frame that said "Daddy's Little Miracle" and put the ultrasound pic inside. Good luck!
Congrads. Little boys are great. How about getting pictures taken of you and your husband, and the baby bump. I love giving the gift of a photo, it's forever. Check out my website www.photographybylisam.com. Just a thought.

Hi D. - I felt the same way about my husband when we were expecting our first child...I got him a polo shirt & hat/cap with "New Dad" stiched on it with a baby image as well..there's a kiosk in University Mall (near Old Navy) that does stiching & they have a huge book of "patterns" to look through...it was affordable too. My husband's work also threw him a surprise baby shower, which he loved! Best of luck finding the perfect gift!

Have you thought about having a baby shower for him? I had one for my husband when we were pregnant with our first. I was given 4 baby showers and there were no men at any of them. So I threw him one. I had chicken wings and all the foods he likes. All of his friends were invited (as well as their wives/girlfriends). We had a great time. There's lots of games out there you can play like having the men race to change the diaper and clothes on a doll. I didn't do games though.
It ended up being a big hit. I wasn't really expecting people to bring gifts, but they really got into it. He received bibs and clothes that said, "daddy's little girl". He received books about being a daddy. A friend gave him a "daddy kit". It had a whistle in it to blow when he needed me and a bunch of other funny things. My mother-in-law brought him a lot of things from his baby years he hadn't seen in years. It was a great day for him.
Shutterfly is another great place you can do fun things with pictures. I've ordered their albums before and have always been very happy with them.

I got my husband a t-shirt that had "new dad" stiched on the front and a picture frame that has a poem about "Daddy's little boy" on one side and a spot to put a picture of them together on the other side. Oh, I als got him "the baby owner's manual. Its a real cute book and because my husband is a computer programmer, it really appealed to his technical side. It also came in handy a time or two.
If you're interested in any of these items, I can probably go back a see where I bought them. Take care and congratulations!
my sister found a shirt at wal-mart that was an i love u dad with a place for lil hand prints and it came with red and blue paint that washes off. it seems the perfect father's day present because in years to come he can look back on those little hands and remember his first father's day. mothers always get the little handprint things but i've rarely seen anything like it for dads.
