Getting Pregnant After Using the Mirena IUD

I am responding the question about having children and nursing with breast implants. I do have breast implants and nursed my baby with no trouble. I even used a breast pump without trouble. I don't think anything at all changed, they still look great, just like before being pregnant and breast feeding. I will say that once my breasts started growing with the pregnancy I started wearing a good support bra 24/7! I slept in it too. This may have helped in preventing sagging from the added weight. It was just more comfortable to me to have them supported all the time. Good luck to you.

I had a breast augmentation when I was 24, and I had my baby when I was 26. I did breast feed (for a little while) and I was able to produce milk just fine (I stopped because I hated it not because I couldn't!). After my surgery for a while I had nerve pain in one breast and I thought that having a baby nurse on it would hurt, but it was fine! As long as the implant is under the muscle and they weren't incerted via an incision around the areola, then you are cool! Now, I will warn you, my breasts did sag a little, and have stretch marks now (which I didn't get after the surgery!) so, that's a bummer, but that's what breast lifts are for in the future! :) haha. I was having problems with the IUD, comfort wise, so I had it removed and am now using Depo. The doctor told me when she removed it, "ok, you are now fertile!" Not so funny, when you don't want to be. ;-)
I also had a breast aug in my mid 20's, had a child at 29, no pain, but not quite as "perky" now that I'm in my late 30's. They look very real though, even my boyfriend has no clue that they are man made, he just thinks I have amazing breasts! lol.

I have the Mirena IUD and my docter said I will have NO problems getting pregnant agian. She has used it for a while and has seen success in other patients getting PG within a few months of having it removed.

I also had breast augmentation before both of my children were born. I nursed both of them however I had difficulties and had to pump to help keep my supply. I never had enough milk and often had to supplement. But some breast milk is better than none.

I am also 34, married with two beautiful daughters. Lucy is 2.5 and Lily is 3 months old. I had my Marina IUD removed October 19th, 05, the doc said to wait a full cycle to try to conceive so my cervical lining has a chance to become thicker.. Apparently, with an IUD, it becomes very thin and not the most secure place for the egg to attach itself to, therefore leading to a higher miscarriage rate... that is what my doctor said. Anyway, I waited a cycle to have unprotected sex and was pregnant by December 7th.

About breast implants and nursing. My friend had implants, got pregnant not even 4 months afterwards, she had numerous problems with them, I think because her body didn’t get enough time to deal with them in the first place, therefore, when they started stretching even more, they actually left stretch marks. She would have waited until after having the baby to get implants had she known. If you have had them long enough, a year or more I think they should be fine. She was able nurse for a year with no problems, other than the stretch marks. She has since had reconstructive surgery on her breasts to lift them as they fell quit a bit after nursing.

Hi J.,

I had the Mirena Implant for three years & I had my third child after taking it out. It only took my about a month to become pregnant! I'm the type that gets prego pretty easy to begin with but I had your same concern since this was my first encounter with an IUD type birth control method.
