I got my period last month when my baby was 4.5 months old. This month I haven't got it yet. Im wondering with breastfeeding can it be really crazy. Coming one month and not the next. I keep having the feeling like it might be coming, which is really annoying. I didnt get it until I stopped breastfeeding with my first child when she was 6-7 months old. I'm planning on breastfeeding longer this time and would like to know what to expect. I dont thing I'm pregnant but havent taken a test, yet. Any advice would help. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, Im guessing its going to be very irregular. I took a pregnany test and it was negative. I will just have to wait and see when it comes. I have also been working out pretty hard and my daughter has been eating more so that might be affecting it. Thanks for all the advice. Im going to think about the mini pill, though. With my first child my period was regular so we did natural planning but I dont think that will work without regularity.

I got my period around the 4-5 month mark with all 3 of my babies. And I exclusively breastfeed for much longer with all. I do seem to remember the last one was quite a bit more irregular. I have always been on a 28 day cycle, but with this last one it has finally moved from a 35 or so back down to 28 days. And he's 14 months now. So I wouldn't be suprised if your body takes a little time to get back on track.

My period came at about 3-4 months after birth, but then it wasn't all that regular. I breastfeed only for 11 months. At about 6 months it became regular. I would use some sort of birth control to be sure not to have an opps! I used the mini pill while nursing and still am and it works fine!

With my oldest my period came back at 4 months, nad it was very irregular. Would come at 28 days, or 44 days, and whe nhe was about 10 months it evened out and was back on track. I got my period back whe nmy youngest was 9 months, and it was regular right away.

I breastfed my first child until about a year and a half, and am currently nursing my 10 month old. Both times I got my periods back within 5 mo (when they started sleeping longer thru the night). I got pregnant (intentionally) when my first was about 13 months and nursed him until he lost interest and naturally weaned himself at about 18 months (I was about 20 weeks pregnant at the time). My periods were regular the whole time, but it can vary. You should probably take a pregnancy test, and if you're not using birthcontrol and don't want to get pregnant, you should start using it!

I would FOR SURE use birth control if you don't want to get pregnant. I hadn't even gotten my period after having my first when I got pregnant with my second (when my first was only 6 months old). We were o.k. with that, though, as we wanted 2 kids and my husband and I are both "older" parents.

My daughter is 13 months old now and I haven't had a period yet. She is breastfed, but we're down to only 2-3 times per day and I'm wondering when it will come also. I was on the mini pill though, until a couple of weeks ago (we're ready to try for #2 whenever my body is ready).
