Hi I.,

I would suggest telling her that bottles are for babies, and that she is a big girl now. Take her to Wal-Mart and tell her she can pick out a cup and that she has to give her bottles to babies. Show her how neat all the cups are, like the ones with Dora or whoever she likes, and they have ones that change colors, and ones with straws. They also have some that are sport tops, which is as close to a bottle you can get. My son loves those kind. He thinks they are neat at how they pop up and it squirts out. They have some at Wal-Mart on the isle that has regular cups and plates etc... They are 0.88 to 1.50. Hopefully that will help.

Ok, well that's the beginning of your problem...giving in to her. :) Be strong. I would do what J. P suggested, & then go home & throw the bottles away. Have her help you throw them away, & then start with the sippy cups.

The longer you have the bottles, the longer she will want them. The longer she uses them, the harder it will be for her to give them up.

I personally don't see any problem with a bottle as long as they are not sleeping with it. If you keep diluting the formula until it is water, it is a great way to know they are getting the fluids they need in this aweful hot Texas weather ahead!!

All the best! liz

My daughter was a little younger, but I got her off the bottle by only putting water in it. I gave her milk and juice only in a sippy cup. For a few days, she still sucked on it, but got bored with the water and just quit taking it. It also bothered me less for her to have it because I wasn't worried about her teeth.

It might have been a fluke, but that was what I tried and it worked. Good luck!

Hi I.,

Like others have posted, I think it would be fastest to throw away the bottles and just use sippy cups. She may not drink much for a few days, but when she learns that it's only going to be sippy cups, she'll come around.

Good luck! C.
