Hello Ladies,

I'm a little bit frustrated with my current doctor's staff and I'm at the point with no matter how much I like the doctor, I'm tired of her staff's lack of professionalism. For instance, I called the office at 8:30a.m. to see if I could get an appointment and I was told that my doctor was on vacation by lady D; I asked to see a different doctor and was put on hold; another lady answered the phone and I just explained to her that I needed a prescription refill and she said she would have Dr. X look over my chart and she'll get back with me. I waited to call at around 2pm, figuring other appointments and after lunch to see about the prescription and lady D said she didn't know what I was talking about; so I had to explain to her how she put me on hold and another worker took the message, said I didn't need an appointment, and she would get back with me. Lady D than went on to say that the doctor's were booked today and that they probably won't get to it until after 4:30. I asked if she could at least check to see if Dr. X has left a message to call me back about filling the prescription...you can tell she literally glanced at some papers and said, No, its not ready...Also, my doctor is trying for her second child so I don't see the staff situation getting any better.

Does anyone know of a good Internal Medicine doctor around the Troy area? I don't care if I have to travel 20 miles for a good doctor, just someone who has friendly staff, and can get an appointment same or next day. Any advice would be great!

Thank you!

We use Troy Internal Medicine ###-###-####. The office is near the 18 & Crooks area. Big office, lots of physicians (we use Dr. Sinkoff), hopefully some that can accommodate last minute appointments. It's worth a try!

I was almost afraid to answer this question, what if the doctor I refer you to is the one your having a problem with?!! Hopefully not :)

I go through this with my doctor's office too. They have way too many patients at once and even my urgent needs get neglected. My doctor switched offices and I'm HOPING that their staff is better. It's probably busy too but maybe their staff is more efficient. Ask your friends and family, maybe they can suggest someone. Good luck to you!!

Your best bet, if you're looking for Internal Medicine, is to check the American College of Physicians website: acponline.org (they are the professional association for Internists - internal medicine specialists).

Unfortunately, though, Fridays are horrible days in Doctor's offices because EVERYONE is calling to get their prescriptions filled before the weekend. Almost 10 years in Pharmaceutical sales, and rarely would a doctor's office not be completely swamped and overwhelmed on Mondays and Fridays.

It doesn't excuse Lady D for being unprofessional in any way.....just perhaps an explanation as to why things have happened the way they have. Most physicians have had to see at least 5-10 patients more per day than 5 years ago just to make the same amount of money for their practices. It means that everyone from the front office to the nursing staff has extra pressures put on them, and a poorer patient experience.

My husband is still a pharmaceutical sales rep, and when I spoke with him earlier this afternoon, he said his entire day was "hurry up and wait".

Good luck - I hope they call it in for you.

I like Dr. Piazza at Associated Internists at 23 mile and Schoenherr. I haven't had to get any same or next day appointments so I can't say for sure how the staff is at handling stuff like that though. What I really like about him is that he writes down everything he is telling you while you are there and sends it with you. He also mails you all test results (blood work, CT Scans, etc if you ever need them) with notes on them, so you never have to worry that someone just forgot to call you with any concerning results.

why dont u call and ask to speak to the supervisor or the office manager. I'm sorry not the supervisor cuz the supervisor might be somebody working in front desk with them or a nurse, ask for the office manager. I use to work at a dr's office and this happened all the time. if the clinic or office is too busy with lots of pts they will not listen to you unless its an emergency. plain and simple. i know it sounds horrible, but believe me, i saw it i lived it and i had to deal with it. Not only where i worked but whenever i would go to another clinic... if they are busy they will not take u seriously unless you go personally and wait in the office until u get whatever u want done or u speak to a manager. good luck

p.s. i'm not saying all offices are like that... the dr might not be like that but their staff is another story. Since they control the front office, they do what they want. Again, some not all.
