Nothing that I tried worked. . . just focus on the health of the child. I have 3 family members that all lost babies in the last 2 years so I am just thankful to have my children with me:)
Listening to so many moms discuss methods they've tried to increase their chances of having a boy or girl, I'm beginning to wonder if other moms out there used certain methods and believe they worked. I ultimately think one should be happy with whatever sex baby they end up with since health is all that really matters, but this has peaked my curiosity. So if moms out there have feedback, please respond.

There has been a study done on diets and gender...http://www.womenshealthmag.com/health/moms-diet-affects-b...
http://www.babycenter.com/204_mothers-diet-may-influence-...
It has made all the national papers.
Good luck,
Mom of 2 boys!
I read your post and the responses because I'm so curious about this as well. I have one boy and would have another child only if I could guarantee I would have another boy! I know, everyone wants both genders, but I do not want a girl. [No, let me rephrase that - I'm terrified to have a girl. I have a bad relationship with my Mom. Her sisters all have bad relationships with their daughters. They all have as bad relationship with my grandmother, and her and her sisters all hated my great-grandma.] Anyway, I know they can do it medically but I think they only do it if there is a genetic issue that is passed down to a certain gender. You should talk to your OBGYN though, and see what you can find out from a medical professional. I plan to do that to see what I can find out.
Hi E.,
I believe you should be happy with what you get. However, I am guilty of trying for my son. I had a girl first and wanted a boy like many others. I have a friend who helped 5 friends have each a boy and the one that wanted a girl had a girl.
This is the way she helped me. I purchased an ovulation kit from clear-blue that had 30 stips. When the sick start to dark early on for a girl is when you start to try. But, for the girl she said your husband I do I say this, well has to take care of himself first so that most of the boys are out of the way. I have read an article that boys are the fastest swimmers but also die quickly if the egg is still traveling down. The girls last longer. So for a girl start early about four days before ovulation and for a boy a very small window 24 hours before ovulation. That stick had to be its darkest and you can miss it if waiting to long and your husband would have to sustain for two days for the boys to be good and ready.
Let me say it worked for me and a few people I know. It took me 3 months because I was really waiting for that stick to be as dark as it could get. I also monitor my cycle for three months before I started to get a close number as to when I was going to ovulate with the clearblue strips. The bottle says after the the two weeks discard the bottle don't. I kept using the strips I think it there way of having you buy more. As you have read It worked for me. So Good Luck! Email me anytime if you have any questions I can forward you the article I read with Gender Selection. I can't on this website. Its to long. :)
FYI - I helped someone from this site at least achieve baby#2 by my tips. :)
I have 2 beautiful girls and I personally don't remember the day we conceived. I can say I am truly a believer on different things. I remember hearing about cereal being a factor in which sex you would have. I don't eat breakfast, I know a bad habit. I heard about a poll where those that didn't eat breakfast had girls and those who did, ate sugary breakfast, had boys. Now that applies to me. I didn't eat breakfast, and I had 2 girls. My sister on the other hand doesn't eat breakfast either and had 2 boys.
I am interested in learning how to get a boy. I want one more child and would love to have a boy. But I think my husband will be stuck in a house full of girls.
Like the other respondant, I have used an ovulation predictor and have 2 boys. All my friends who used the predictor also have boys. so for a girl, I would recommend having sex a few days before you think you will ovulate and then not having sex again for a while and see what happens. Good luck!
E., I truly agree with you. I have three boys and it would be nice to have a girl, but having more childrn is what we want not waiting for a girl to show up. A healthy child is important and also, if God doesn't want us to have a girl, fine for He knows what's best for us and everyone of the earth since He created each and every person who lives and lived on earth....well, He created the world with His powerful words. I have three boys and they are healthy and I wouldn't trade them in for anything. Congrats....to you and your family.
I had a boy and wanted to try for the girl the second time around. I read about having sex before ovulation but not during and I did have a baby girl. I know of two other friends that had girls using this method. I'm sure you can read online about how to count the days, etc. It suppossed to give you an 80% chance of conceiving a girl. Good Luck!
Hi E.!
There is a book called Chasing the Gender Dream by Jennifer Merrill Thompson. My friend had 3 boys and really wanted a girl, she followed the advice in the book and got her girl. It may of been conincidence, but she swears by it! Good Luck!
I hate to break it to anybody who thinks the Chinese Calendar is so accurate because it isn't. I think of the people I know who have compared what they have to the calendar maybe 20% was right. BTW, as I told someone else, if you google chinese birth calendar or some similar version, you will see that there are about three different versions of them all claiming to be 97 to 99% accurate. How can the caledar be so accurate when there are multiple versions of it?
I have three boys. ALL THREE times the Chinese Calendar said I was having a girl. *For those who seem to care so much, I viewed the calendars AFTER I conceived as I am not doing things to increase my chances to have one particular sex.* In the first two cases, I conceived on the 11th day. With our third, I have FOUR different "chart methods" including Chinese Calendars and a report from Fortune Baby telling me he was going to be a girl. I also have no idea how I even got pregnant when I did because we conceived 3 days before I was supposed to get my period. I had planned on us starting to try the next month and starting before the 11th day this time but as someone else said, God apparently had a different plan for us.
As everyone else including you has said, what matters is our children are healthy and I certainly cannot imagine my life without my boys! I would like to have one more but not just to have a girl. I just adore my children and would love to have a large family. Because of c-sections and money, I know that if we were blessed to have another, he/she would be our last.
I have been asked more times than I care to count if I kept going for a girl(mom of 5 boys here)....I've been told that I should have read the books and I even had one lady tell me that because of me she and her husband were going to use a medical gender selection...(and that was before I had my fifth)...I truly think you've got it right...It would be wonderful to have a same sex child BUT I wouldn't trade my boys for anything...what a heavy load that child(out there somewhere...not yours)must carry with the disapointment of the mommy who wanted a girl so badly she misses the true jewel she already has...a lady once told me in front of her son(he was about 3 or 4) how much she wanted a girl that she read the books and got it right the second time....I often think of him...I'm rambling...I think the key is to be blessed with what you are given with out putting any added expectations on it.
I have two of each. I hear that certain positions can determine the sex of a baby..but I don't buy it. I've been in pretty much every one and I still have two of each....lol.
The male determines what sex the baby is. But if you really want to dig deeper into this, try going to webMD. They have an ovulation calendar and a page that tells you what days and what to do to "determine" the sex of your child.
Nanc
lol..i laugh because i heard that if you keep your pelvis elevated right after sex for at least 30 min. , it increases your chances of having a boy. ;)
i like the idea of having intercourse 2 days before ovulation for the theory, but i cant say if thats the reason we had our girl, kwim. good luck
I am a mom if three, two girls and a boy. I have many friends and family members that have been or currently are battling infertility. I think that anyone who s blessed enough to be able to convieve should be happy with what they get. I think selecting the sex of your baby is not the natural way. I used to work for an OB group and there were so many people who were not happy about the sex of their baby, but they got over it. There were also patients that only wanted one sex over the other and then had a baby wih problems or even worse. I think the Man upstairs know what he is doing. As my kids tell me "you get what you get and you don't get upset!!"
Hi E.,
I have three girls & two suggestions. One of them is what the other moms said, you need to have sex before you ovulate. Use either a ovulation predictor kit which I did (not because I wanted girls, but b/c my cycles were so irregular, i didn't know when I ovulated) or you can use an online ovulation calendar which will calculate your fertile days. OR, now this is going to sound crazy, go online & look up the Chinese Conception Chart. It is extremely accurate, it predicts by your age & what month you conceive in what sex child will be produced. Someone told me about it after I had my kids & I checked it out comparing how old I was & the month I conceived & it was right all three times. Everyone else I know that used it or checked afterwards the baby's gender was correct too. Worth a try, good luck & best wishes!
Not one method worked...nor was the Chinese chart thing right either...
When my husband and I were trying to get pregnant, we heard about eating certain foods and certain sexual positions that were supposed to help you have a boy (my husband always wanted a boy and then a girl). We both knew that we'd be happy either way but thought it couldn't hurt to try what we read. We did everything it said to have a boy and we had a girl! It worked out for the best, though, because we have a beautiful 5 month old daughter and my husband is so in love with her. It didn't work for us but it didn't hurt to try!
We have 2 boys and my husband finally is ready to try for another child. We will try counting but I believe that God knows what to give us(or He might choose not to give another at all)(I think my husband wants us to have a girl so I leave our boys along and stop putting them in dance and ice skating classes LOL)
My husband and I tried all the "tips" out there--ph levels, timing intercourse, girl diet, etc. Just found out it's a boy. :( I guess it's up to God.
