My husband and I love playing games and have been enjoying playing them again. We play them when my son goes to bed for about an hour. Do you have any suggestions for card games, or board games that are fairly short? We do not want games that we leave out and come back to, with a small house there just isn't a surface or space for that. Thanks!!

**We really like strategy, trvia, thinking games, creative games, etc. We are open to anyyhing, but we don't enjoy Jenga type games.

What can I do next?

I suspect that if you asked him, he would have a different 2-person game in mind :)

Have you tried Uno?

Love the suggestions for backgammon and Yahtzee. Those are some of my favorites. We also have a game called San Juan and another called Carcassonne that are a lot of fun. They take about 20-30 minutes each, so not too long but a bit longer than the others.

Some of my Discovery Toys are actually a lot of fun for adults too (and then you'd have a great game to play with the kids when you wanted too).

Wiz Kidz - get a letter and a category, and try to think of a word in the category that starts with that letter (example: Movie or TV Star, Letter S) Different ways to play, where you either try to get the most points, the most cards, or using a timer. http://www.discoverytoys.com/PUBLICSTORE/stores/karenchao...

Take All - strategy game where you try to collect the most colored marbles

My husband and I love to play these even when the kids aren't around. : )

The brand "ThinkFun" has GREAT FUN GAMES for any age!
We love em' and so do our kids.
For all ages, 0-100.
I get it from Barnes & Noble, or even Amazon has it too.
GREAT brand, for fun games!
And yes, their games are fun/creative/thinking types.

I grew up playing Mille Bornes - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mille_Borne - with my parents, aunts and sisters. One of my favorite games! It's for 2 player or more.

Scrabble and chess are two of our favorites. We also put together jigsaw puzzles. My son got his first LEGO's recently and it was a lot of fun to put them together too.
When I saw the title of your question my thoughts went down the same dirty road as Tracy!

Besides strip twister (oh, that is funny!!), I highly recommend cribbage. I taught it to my husband years ago and we rarely tire of it. In fact, we have a House Cribbage Champion appointed at all times. Whoever wins three games consecutively holds the title.

Can I tell you why cribbage is so awesome? Besides the math involved, there is a lot of strategy once you get used to the game. I've been playing it for about 20 years now and still am learning new little tricks. It's most certainly not just a game of chance or just getting the cards you are dealt.

(My husband has been collecting cribbage boards for the last ten years too. He's a hardcore collector anyway-- we now have 200 or so. All that to say, there are some beautiful boards out there. But to start, just stick with the cheapie continuous track board you can buy most anywhere. Easier to learn on.)

"An Enchanted Evening" is a delightful two player game. ;~)) Your husband will be delighted to play it any time you suggest it. I doubt he will ever find it boring and every one "wins".

I hope you have a wonderful time.

Good luck to you and yours.
