Front Facing Baby Carrier

The Beco Gemini is a lot like the Ergo, only baby can face in, out, on back, or go on hip. It's very versatile. I found mine very comfortable. I wore my baby when he was 4 months old for the entire time at Disney World in it.

I used the ergo, and up until he gets too big, works just fine as a front facer.

The Ergo can also face out and is a great carrier.

Baby 'wraps' or baby 'wearing' are also popular-I have one, but could never get it to feel secure enough to not be worrying my daughter was going to fall out. People love them though and the babies look very cozy.

Unless there is a new Ergo out that I haven't heard about (very possible), I think you're right that it doesn't face out.

I highly recommend the Beco Gemini. I have one, and I LOVE it. You can carry up to 35-pounds (that's on your back, obviously) but it works as a front-carrier facing in or out, as well as a back and hip carrier. I use a ring sling and you can use it front facing. It's also easy to change position to anything else, while continuting to walk and get where you are going if need be. I could go from front facing to cradle hold to nurse to up on the shoulder for burping and settle them down for a nap without skipping a beat. Yes, it's because of practice, but it didn't take that long to learn and get used to.
I have tried some of the other styles and find them to be so fiddly and you have to stop if you need to change positions. Some of them even end up taking a second person to put on correctly and comfortably. The ring sling has been the easiest one to use. I have a Maya Wrap and a couple that I bought from etsy. I also have a couple padded Over the Shoulder Baby Holder but I stopped using those in favor of the unpadded because they were too hot during the summer and you could not fit a jacket over it well during the winter. I also felt like a football player with all that padding. But the padding is great for comfort for some people if they do not mind it.

I think there's a pergo or p-something one that is forward facing. I used a Bjorn. Never got the hang of a wrap, but maybe that will work for you, too? Ergo only faces in, but you can use it on your back or side.

Interesting link--I didn't know about reasons not to carry baby this way until my second. I plan to use a back carry with an Ergo when my second is ready

I preferred a moby wrap, which you can use facing in or out and it really distributes the weight, so it doesn't make your back hurt.

I didn't actually buy a moby brand wrap, I went to Joanne fabrics, bought the right length of fabric, and made two for $15. If you google "make a moby wrap", you'll find directions. No sewing involved. Instructions on how to wrap it are all over the place, including youtube.

I have the britex carrier that allows you to face baby out. I have trouble with back and shoulders but I cannot seem to adjust anything out. fyi- I hate my Ergo
