Hi,
I've been trying to eat better, and it seems like so many healthy foods are also stinky foods (salmon, tuna, hard-boiled eggs, hummus, etc.). I brush my teeth often, but I was wondering if anyone had anything they use in a pill or liquid/spray form that really helps. I'm a teacher, so I can't chew gum or suck on mints while I'm teaching.
Thanks!

Apples are fantastic at helping with bad breath. If you eat these stinky foods, follow your lunch with an apple, it can help a lot.

if you are eating healthier - then I would assume you are drinking more water. If you still have bad breath after brushing your teeth - it sounds like a health issue to me.
I know plenty of teachers that use breath mints while teaching. Maybe Fairfax County is different, I don't know as I'm not a FFC teacher - but I can tell you that our teachers do use mints.
I keep the Colgate Wisp in my purse as well - so if you can't run to the bathroom after eating lunch to brush your teeth - use those. They really do work!!
When I worked for a dentist, he would always tell the patients to ALWAYS floss and brush your tongue well because tons of bacteria form between the teeth and on the tongue( a tongue scraper works great too) . He would even scrape some of the bacteria off the tongue and show them in a microscope. It looked horrible!!! I hope that helps! :)
Yes on the brushing the tongue! I hated it at first but it has made a big difference. Floss and brushing. You can always brush your teeth after lunch. Stay away from onions / garlic during lunch time. .
Parsley- Plus it's got TONS of vitamins.
After your meals eat a piece of mint and a bit of lemon. Fresh breath often comes from the inside, so eating those should help along with the suggestions from others like flossing, etc.
Colgate Wisps are incredible. We actually buy them in bulk from Amazon because my kid's think they're fun! Since they're using them, hey who am I to stop them!
I used to work w a dentist and agree w what everyone says about brushing your tongue. TONS of bacteria stuck there! Using the Wish on the tongue works well.
Good luck and Thanks for teaching our children!
Floss after eating, don't keep your mouth closed for long periods and when you brush, make sure to get your tongue, roof and cheeks.
Tongue scrapper is the best solution. A plastic one Breath RX makes a great one with ridges they also sell a gel you can use in conjunction with it. Works great! Bad breath comes from the tongue unless you have periodontal disease which is a completely different smell. Brushing the tongue helps but it's kinda like using a broom on a shag carpet. Don't over do the tongue scrapping. Lean over sink stick tongue out as far as it will will go and just scrap down toward sink a couple of times sometimes it will make you gag. Rinse dry and put in bag. Every so often I will alcohol mine off and let it dry and then rinse it.
All great suggestions here, only thing I would add is that Altoids makes tiny mints - very effective, long lasting, and won't interfere with speaking (they are smaller than a pencil eraser). Wintergreen and peppermint flavors, they come in tiny tins. Love 'em.
PS Agree with Stephanie - Thanks for teaching our kids!! :)
BreathRx.. they had a kit at my dentist's office, and it had a spray you could use. leaves a metalic taste in your mouth though...
celery and apple slices after the stinky foods
Fresh Parsley after meals and take Parsley Pills when you take your vitamins (Rainbow Light brand is a great option because they are Green Food Based).
The eating healthy is worth it, keep up the good efforts!
like the other mom, i'd recommend flossing and cleaning your tongue. why not also follow up with mouth wash? Listerine is the only brand that i've found to help with bad breath. they do sell the smaller 3 oz travel size that you can keep with your toothbrush and toothpaste. if it's too strong for you, dilute it with a little water while you gurgle. Also listerine has the pocket pack breath strips that are useful for a quick freshen up.
