Hi M.,
Sorry to hear your baby is in pain! Ask your doctor for a sample of Nutramigen by Enfamil, it is also very expensive, but I have heard it can work wonders and usually right away...it's a Hypoallergenic formula that is super super easy for baby to digest, it is worth a try and my ped gave me 2 samples for free to try! I ended up using Similac Sensitive and never had to try the Nutramigen, but that was my next option. (My son also has reflux). GOOD LUCK!!! PS- also make sure you have your baby's bed slightly elevated at the head and that you are holding baby upright for at least 20 minutes after each feeding! Laying flat makes the reflux worse. That seems to help a lot as well....

Hi M.,

Many times eating (reflux) problems can be corrected by a chiropractor........please google "reflux and chiropractic"...misalignments of the spine, which commonly occur during childbirth, can then cause problems with the nervous system.

You should be able to find testimonies of other parents who have been helped by a chiropractor.

Best wishes!

Hi M.,

I didn't have the same exact problem, but very similar. I had to wean my daughter at 2 monthes due to having to start taking a medication. When we started, it was a nightmare. Even though we "transitioned" her, she would projectile vomit and it was awful. We went through many formalas and eventually ended up on Good Start Soy. I also would mix in a little of the Mylicon (a few drops each bottle), but I used the store brand at Von's which is the same thing, but half the price. The formula was more expensive than the other standard formulas, but we had to feed her something.

I was also given this baby massage book, that I was surpised did wonders for her colic. Not just physiologically, but it helped soothe her too. I did the massage like 3-7 times a day depending on how the day was going.

Another idea that helped, though this is controversial, was we added some rice cereal to her bottle and just poked slightly bigger holes in the bottle nipple for it to flow. This helped with the reflux and also kept her full longer. She was a frequent feeder too. We were able to avoid meds so I don't know if our problems were not as severe as yours.

Maybe that will help. Chances are, that it will pass once you are able to get your little one to the next stage of feeding, rice cereal. If not, I would seek more help from the Dr's just to make sure there isn't something else going on.

Good luck with it!
U.

P.S. I just read the response about the Chiropractor and as scary as it may sound, there is a great one in Clairmont, that helps kids(and adults) from like 3 weeks old. His name is Dr. Piranio at ###-###-####. He is near Balboa and Genesee. I have seen him a few times and he is super gentle and great. I didn't believe in chiro until he helped me with serious neck problems. He also has 2 children, one of which is under 1 year. He is extremely gentle. You can even just go in for a free consult if you like. Just tell hime U. sent you and he will take super good care of you.

How many other formulas has he been on? My sister baby was having issues with formula, and had to try several before she found one that worked and didn't irritate the stomach. I did have a friend who found that her baby was lactose intolerant and had to be on a soy formula. And if your baby is still hungery after feeding, you could add a small amount of rice cereal to the formula to make it more substantial. I started giving my son rice ceral at about 3wks of age because the formula alone was not enough. And it helped with his hunger significantly.
