Finding Out Gender Tomorrow!

I know most of you don't care about one more pregnant lady lol, but with all the static and noise on here I thought I'd dig deep down and find a parenting question to add to the pile, so we can get back on track :)

We are set to find out the gender of our baby tomorrow, and I'm so excited! I am about 20 1/2 weeks so I am eager for a good view. I have been googling what the odds are that the prediction is right, and it is soooo hard to find concrete numbers. And since I have a strong feeling it's a girl (and really want a girl) I'm somewhat holding back, since they say that girls are harder to tell. In the end I will be happy either way, just to KNOW one way or another!

SO for a question...hmm....

Those with girls who found out the gender beforehand, what can you tell me about that? was the technician certain? I'm thinking to give myself some peace of mind I am going to ask her HOW sure she is lol. Surely there are many fewer "false females" than there used to be, right? From what I'm reading nowdays 20 weeks is fairly easy to tell most of the time. (Although I know there are never any guarantees! No finger wagging needed I assure you :))

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

WELL!! lol. I guess it didn't matter, the accuracy if it is a girl....because IT'S A BOY!! Loud and proud, definitely a boy lol. I honestly didn't react at first because I was a little shocked - I really thought it would be a girl! Oh well, goes to show what I know! Lol. Well my 9 year old son was happy anyway. And we are all just happy to know finally :) Thanks ladies!!

it was so hard to get the techs and folks at the OB's office NOT to tell us!

the world is not friendly to the few of us wait-and-see folks.

Um, this will come across as a quibble, but you are talking about finding out the sex of your baby, not its gender. They are easily confused, but that said...

to answer your question, we discovered our son's sex at 20 weeks-- it took a few minutes for them to find evidence of boyness, so the doctor first said "it's a girl" (which I 'had a feeling' it was-- so much for feelings)... before we got the correct info.

For my first, they were sitting perfectly at 15 weeks that he could tell what they were. For my other 2, they were easy though we got my daughter to move a bit to get a better pic. The pictures are much better now, fewer shadows. My husband's niece was very easy as she pretty much sat on the camera and showed what she was. NO question with her.

Hope all goes well for you. Try not to get into the head of "I really want a girl" so you are not disappointed. I was sure I was having a girl - not because I especially preferred one, but because all of the other babies in the family were girls. I didn't think I'd "know how" to raise a boy. Imagine my surprise! I'm glad I had time to get used to it and of course I couldn't be happier.

Try to remember that, a generation ago, no one know the gender or even the due date half the time, and no one peed on a stick 17 minutes after conception. Everyone just waited it out!

And consider who you want to tell and who you don't. We didn't tell anyone except my mom. We went through infertility treatments and felt that so much of our conception was public, we wanted one thing that was private! So the gender was our special secret. Not saying you need to do that, but just decide now who you will share with and who you won't.

Good luck - hope it's a good and clear test!

My sonogram was a special technical one because I had a couple of issues and they wanted to do extra testing to make sure my baby and I was ok. My daughter will be 21 in December. So the sonogram I had was very specific and the Dr. said he was 100% sure it was a girl. I was still skeptical.

On the day I was induced, I started to freak out a bit because we had NO boy names at all and I thought What if... it is a boy.

TMI maybe but... My issue was that she decided to sit atop my bladder and not move. I could not pee, I was in the ER in pain because I could not pee. My Dr. said I got to ER just in time because I was in danger of my bladder bursting which would have been very bad for baby and me. Funny fact... I still have the record at the hospital for the amount of urine that was collected when I finally got a catheter. She did not budge and I had to wear a catheter for 2 weeks before she finally decided to move.

I hope your sonogram goes well.. Let us know what they say..

if the baby is willing to show their parts then you will know, some babies cross their legs and no one gets to know. they asked me before starting the u/s if i wanted to know the gender and when they were able to see it they pointed it out to me. both my babies co-operated and showed a full view so there was no mistake. and the gender guess at 20 wks was correct.

We found out by sonogram but the amnio confirmed it - ours was/is a boy!
Just try not to build up expectations one way or the other so you have no disappointment when ever you find out which it will be.
When people asked me "Do you know what it is?" before I knew - I'd tell them "It's a baby!".

Have fun and best wishes!!!

With my first daughter they were 80% sure she was a girl but that was over 17 years ago.

They were 100% sure of the sex when I had my son and S. daughter. (Although I had an amniocentesis at 16 wks with my daughter)

My daughter was pretty obvious- she was NOT shy at all and showed off the distinctive "three lines" easily.

I just had my son last week, and there was no mistaking his equipment. Lol.
