I know that I need to go to the dr to be properly diagnosed. I was wondering if you have any of my symptoms and have fibro. BOTH of my parents have it. I have pain all over my body! I ache constantly! I feel anxiety(mostly at night), I have insomnia, and horrible sinus issues of all which have been diagnosed. I feel tired and fatigue all the time. I was diagnosed with migraines at 16. I have been researching fibro and most of these are symptoms if not all of them. Can you be diagnosed while pregnant? I have all the same symptoms long before pregnancy they just got worse!!! Thanks for all your help!

What can I do next?

I do have fibromyalgia and your symptoms of constantly hurting all over, fatigue, history of migraines, anxiety and insomnia are all some of the symptoms I have as well. When there is a family history of fibromyalgia you are more apt to develop it. Pregnancy can exacerbate symptoms and some women actually believe their pregnancy caused their fibromyalgia. A recently published study reports that women with fibromyalgia will experience worsening of their symptoms during pregnancy. Yes, you can be diagnosed while pregnant and studies have also shown that more women are diagnosed with fibromyalgia when they are pregnant.

I would strongly suggest that you inform your doctor of your symptoms and the fact that they have worsened. Now would be a good time to find out if you indeed have it, although you will be limited in the medications you can take while pregnant. But since medications are trial and error you can focus on that once your baby is born. Also look online for exercises for fibromyalgia while pregnant, but talk to your doctor before doing them.

God bless❤

I had all of the above, including drenching night sweats and intermittent hoarseness. The nighttime anxiety manifested itself as a feeling of "a herd of horses galloping in my chest and breathlessness!" One of the symptoms was that during sleep, I felt fully awake and alert, but upon waking in the morning, I felt drugged and incredibly fatigued. A few years ago, I had a sleep study for apnea and the sleep study was what confirmed my diagnosis of fibromyalgia. (Alpha waves, which signal that the brain is "awake," were throughout the whole recording of my study). Fibromyalgia produces a sleep disturbance that does not allow the deep, restorative sleep the body requires, which contributes to the massive muscle and joint pain and tenderness and what I call "brain fog." I also experienced memory loss, which was one of my most frightening symptoms. I thought I had early onset of Alzheimer's! I was managed on medications initially, which helped tremendously, but I preferred nonmedical treatment. I found that getting deep, restful sleep (which you may require some help with) and exercise (especially water aerobics) helped me more than anything. I used to push myself when things needed to be done and would end up almost paralyzed by pain in the ensuing days, sometimes weeks. Now, I work within my limitations. If I overdo it, I take to the bed for rest. Trust me, REST cannot be overstated when dealing with fibromyalgia!!! A diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables and plenty of water is good. (The less processed foods and sugars you consume, the better.) I don't know why, but olive oil added to my food seems to lessen my pain. Olive oil mixed with balsamic vinegar or lemon juice has become my salad dressing of choice and sometimes I'll add a little splash of olive oil to whatever else I'm eating. Try sensible, safe measures and know your limitations.

Not sure about what you can do while pregnant but I would highly recommend that you try out an amino acid called 5-HTP. Again this is something that can NOT be used while pregnant or nursing. You might want to goggle it and do some research. It's helped alot of folks with this condition and the symptoms you have mentioned. Helps me alot as well. Since you are now with child, I highly suggest you see a doctor for these issues.
Best Regards,
C.

Here's my take on this. I DON'T have fibromyalgia. Now my medical history would disagree and so would some doctors. But, I am HEELED. I feel 95% better most of the time and when symptoms try and rear their ugly head, I stand on what I've learned. I am HEELED by the blood of the lamb.

My pain and my mental fatigue and the years of struggling had reached an all time high in the last few years. All too often at the end of the day I'd sink into bed and while laying there throbbing in various places I'd just ask God to take me home. Being only 44 now and having a grandchild and still raising my 4th daughter, it's a selfish request and I'm glad God hasn't listened.

So anyway, I pulled out ALL the stops. I decided that I'm getting a spiritual healing if I have to psyche myself out to get it. I started studying anything and everything I can get on healing. Google Andrew Wommack to get his website. He teaches a LOT on healing and you can download his stuff.

Then go to www.kcm.org and learn how to get around their very big website. They also teach a lot on healing. You can download mp3 recordings from both these ministries. Listen and listen and listen and listen while you are cleaning house and such.

Fibromyalgia can not be found under a microscope. Pills and potions do NOTHING but make you more tired and living with the idea that you have it makes your mind think that the end is coming. Sitting around "feeling" the aches and pains only makes you sink into the despair that comes with it.

The first 3 weeks of Andrew Wommacks show this year is all about healing testimonies. One of the girls on there was 100% miraculously healed from Fibromyalgia when all the medical doctors thought she was nearing death. She is healed and well today.

I am so much better it's unreal. I'm still struggling to get off caffiene. I've tried and tried and have a ways to go.

The medical community can offer you NOTHING. They can't take a blood test and tell you that you have it. They can't give you a pill and cure you. God can.

If you do have fibromyalgia, you could have a long road ahead before it's properly diagnosed. Even then, there isn't a whole lot that can be done - as you've probably seen with your parents. But, find the best doctor and go! Make sure you have written down all of your questions. Tell the scheduling clerk that you have lots of questions, so please make sure she allots enough time. Don't let the doctor leave the room until he has helped you understand.

In the meantime: if you smoke, quit. It's poisoning your body. Poison can cause pain, and other horrors. If you're overweight, lose the weight. Less bulk will lighten the load on those sore body parts. If you don't have a healthy diet, correct it. Lacking certain vitamins or calcium can cause body pain. Get your routine checkups, to be sure the pain isn't due to some other undiagnosed ailment.

I'm sorry if this isn't exactly what you were looking for. I wish you the best.

You can be diagnosed at any time. I was diagnosed when a doc was testing my reflexes and had one of his hands in my hand and put his other hand on my forearm holding it steady. He had me pull his hand as hard as I could. He accidentally had his hand on a pressure point on my forearm. I went down crying.

He asked me to explain what had happened. I told him it hurt where he was pressing on my arm, a LOT. He started poking me all over on my back, my hips, my waist, etc...and laughingly told me he knew exactly what was wrong with me, the fibromyalgia.

When I am inflamed I can't lean against the kitchen cabinets, I can't lay down in bed and be comfortable, I can't sit in a chair for long, I have to keep moving and then I hurt even more.

I went to PT several times over my life and learned the most important lesson from a wonderful caregiver. She told me to take the smaller Styrofoam cups and fill them part way up with water then freeze them. When I needed pain relief take one out, peel part of the cup off, it will be domed on top, have my hubby rub the spots with the rounded top and when it is melted off a bit just peel more cup off. It insulates his hands and the cold in almost not there.

It feels so good. I lay my back back in the chair too with an ice bag on the sore spots and it makes the pain go away for a while.

My chiropractor never had to adjust me the regular way. He would massage me for about half an hour, do EMS with heat, use Bio-Freeze on my back, ultrasound, etc...and while rubbing he stretched out the unruly muscles. When he was done he could just pull my head about 1/4 of an inch and my back would pop all the way down to my tiniest part of my spine. I felt well after a few shot visits. I was able to be pain free for very long times. He had a heart attack and had to retire so I can't go see him anymore but it was so worth it.
