I too was sick all day with my last pregnancy and I found that Ginger Root capsules (bought at WalMart) helped so much. I would take them every 4 hrs and if I kept up on them I wouldn't feel very sick at all. If I let the time get away from me, I would start to feel sick again and remember the pills. Then it would take about an hr or so to start to work again.
Good luck! My all day sickness finally went away about 14 weeks.

Try freezing lemon wedges and sucking on the
when you feel sick! Also 1/2 a unisom is what the army docs suggest (I'm an armywife too).

C.,
I tried acupuncture for my all-day morning sickness. For the first 4 days after a treatment, I felt great (slept GREAT!), then the effectiveness would wear off over the next 6 days. So, I'd go back in for another acupuncture treatment. I ended up going in 3x over a month's time. I found it very worthwhile.

Not sure if you are in the Overland Park area, but I used Dr. Brad Woodle at Advanced Sports & Family Chiropractic at 12643 Metcalf. Phone is ###-###-####.

I also went to see Dr. Woodle at the end of my pregnancy for chiropractic adjustments and for acupuncture to stop contractions, it was awesome--I didn't do that during my first pregnancy. In fact, I only started going for chiropractic adjustments about 6 weeks before I got pregnant for the second time.

I was only sick with one of my three pregnancies, but when I was...oh man, was I sick! My doctor told me I was actually green when I went into his office. He gave me something for the sickness. It was a pill, but I don't remember the name. I only had to take it for a couple of weeks, and then it went away. You may ask your doctor about this. Good luck.

I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins and still sick. My Dr. prescribed Zofran for the sickness and it works wonders. You might ask them about it. Oh my, I know what you are going through.

I know your pain... with both of my pregnancies I was sick all of the time. Nothing really helped but I just recently learned about ginger pills and I figure next time around I'll give them a try... evidently they really help a lot of people with motion sickness so if you can keep them down try them for a couple of days. The only other thing that seemed to help me was exercising... it sounds weird, but it worked for some reason.
Good luck! (I'm an Army wife too... it's not easy, but you have support!)

Preggy pops, ginger capsules/gingerale/ginger beer all were helpful for me. I was sick the entire nine months. I pray yours passes quickly!

I was so nauseous with my second that I couldn't function. I took Zofran and it was a miracle drug for me. After reading the other responses I would try the B6 first to see if that helps before taking a synthetic drug.

UUUGGGHHHH! I remember this same thing. It was also with my second child. I know it is hard to eat when you don't feel well, but that actually seemed to help me. If I got too hungry, it was almost certain that I would throw up. I ate lots of crackers, rice, toast, etc. I would try to eat just a few bites every few minutes till the queasiness subsided. Often times, though, if I got sick, I would instantly feel better. The good news is that it didn't last long, only till about 16 weeks or so, then got much better. I would try to read to my older daughter when I didn't feel well. We would sit in a chair and munch on a few crackers and read together. Just hang in there...it will get better soon!

I was really nauseous and vomiting a lot during the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy. I tried to keep some food in my stomach at all times - salty things were best (I relied on goldfish crackers and corn chips). Then a friend recommended preggie pops. I found them at Babies R Us - they're basically citrus candies. Whenever I felt the nausea coming on, I'd suck on one of those. They really helped. My friend she used lemon drop candies and they did the same thing for her.

Once I hit the 12 week mark, my nausea pretty much disappeared - praise God! It's a rough time, I know. There was one stretch where I threw up 11 days in a row (including the mall parking lot and the trash can at my office - how embarrassing!) I would eat right afterward because my stomach actually felt a little better and I knew I needed nutrients. Focus on that little treasure, and you can make it through!

I am 12 weeks with my second and had the same problem for much of my first trimester. My doctor recommended that I take a supplement of B6, 25mg three times daily. I did that and it really helped my symptoms. I was not vomitting though, just nauseous, so if that's your problem, I would definitely recommend giving it a try, it really helped me. Good luck!

Try eating some protein. With my pregnancy, I kept eating mashed potatoes, toast, crackers...all the starchy stuff you usually eat when you're sick, but when I ate some MEAT I finally felt better.Every person is probably different though. Good luck.

C.,

I feel your pain... I had "morning" sickness my entire pregnancy.
Here are some of the things that helped:

-- small meals often instead of the normal 3 meals per day -- there is something about an empty stomach that increases the likelihood of getting sick
-- ginger -- I used any form I could find: tea, candies, ginger chicken at a tai restaurant was one of the only meals I could actually eat during that 9 months...
-- there are anti nasea bands that you can wear that press on accupressure points on your wrist.
-- I've heard accupuncture works, but I didn't actually try that.

Good luck! I know it's hard, I honestly thought I would never enjoy food again (I actually lost weight overall, I was 10 lbs lighter after my daughter was born (of course I gained that back pretty quickly once food was yummy again :->))

My OB gave me some samples of a candy with vitamin B6. There was a cherry sucker and green apple that looked like a jolly rancher. These were called B-Natal Therapops and they really helped with my last pregnancy but they are fairly expensive so when I got pregnant this time I took a low dose b6 vitamin (25mg) three times a day (which is the same dose and how often they recommend the therapops) and it really helped with my nausea. In fact, after a week, I eased down to only taking two doses a day and still felt better, although still tired all the time.

I have heard that eating watermelon can help. Also, I have a friend that switched from pre-natal vitamins to children's chewables and that helped. Of course, I would check with your OBGYN before doing that. Good luck!

My doctor has prescribed medicine for all-day "morning sickness" before, but personally, it always made me too sleepy--I'd rather deal with it than sleep all day!
Some things that have helped me and/or friends of mine with all-day nausea:
*Move slowly and try to take it easy. For instance, when you want to play with your son, try sitting on the floor with him and playing with blocks or cars--any game where you don't have to move around a lot or be too active is great. Or just let him do all the active parts.
*Get plenty of rest. Nap when your son does (or if he doesn't take naps anymore, then stick in a favorite DVD and let him watch it while you nap). Your most important job right now is growing that baby--NOT trying to get things done while your son is napping!
*Along the same lines, cut back on extra housework. No one will die if their T-shirts aren't always perfectly folded, and the dust bunnies aren't going anywhere, either! Just do the *barest minimum*, and be willing to accept help even with that! (We use paper plates and plastic cups during the first trimester, so I don't have too many dishes to do. It still costs much less than eating out!)
*Eat often, in small amounts, and eat and drink slowly. Keeping a little food in your stomach will probably help.
*You'll find that certain foods and smells may "trigger" your nausea. Avoid them! If that means you can't visit Aunt Jane for a few weeks because her cinnamon-scented candles are too overwhelming, so be it.
*Find foods that seem appealing and are more likely to stay down. If all you can eat right now is strawberry ice cream, then stock up on it and DON'T FEEL GUILTY eating it--as my doctor told me, it's better than throwing up everything else!
*Getting enough protein (especially before bed), taking a little extra folic acid (I can't take pills, so I buy cereal with plenty of folic acid in it), nibbling salty or sour foods, and ginger may all help.
*It may be easier to take your prenatal vitamin before bed.
*Most of all (and especially if nothing else works), give yourself time. You won't feel this way forever!
HTH! Good luck!

I was sick all the time with all 3 of my pregnancies. It got better after the 1st trimester but it never really went away. With the 3rd one, I finally figured out that the horrible post-nasal drip thing was what was causing my problems. I started chewing gum on a regular basis and it really helped. The gum keeps you swallowing so the gunk doesn't get stuck in your throat. I also had to avoid the computer for the first trimester; it always made me feel worse.

Hi C.. Best of luck--I know what you're going through with the nausea! It's the worst.

I will second the votes for the following:
1) Zofran--couldn't function from weeks 6-11 without it!
2) Preggie Pops
3) PROTEIN--peanut butter and fast food hamburgers worked for me because they didn't have a strong smell & didn't require me to cook
4) Vitamin B6 seemed to help too,
in that order of helpfulness.

Maybe you'll get lucky as I did and it will end toward the end of your first trimester.

I had terrible morning sickness - ALL DAY for weeks 6-12. I thought it would last FOREVER. In addition to the B vitamins, and Zofran, my dr. put me on reglan. Reglan is the one thing that made a significant difference. I know part of the reason I was so sick is because I could never get enough sleep. My job was 9-10 hours a day and there was no time for me to nap in the evenings. Try to get as much sleep as you can, seriously. It helps with the sickness. Other than that, keep bugging the dr. I was told a few times by the nurses to "deal" but I kept bugging them.

Oh and for some reason, Mac & Cheese helped. So did pickles (but not at the same time).
