Okay, moms of two month olds.... I have a question...
If you formula feed your child, how many ounces are you feeding them per feeding and how often?
My fear is that my child isn't eating all that she should..
Thanks.

What can I do next?

The best advice our pediatrician gave us with our first child was to let them guide you on what they need vs. what you believe they need (unless the pediatrician is concerned and has expressed that to you). He advised us against schedules for our convenience and in favor of letting the child develop their own. It was some of the best advice he's given us.

Babies don't know how to overeat - it's completely a learned behavior.

Our son never (even at a year) ate more than 5 oz/feeding. Our daughter never got past 8 oz/feeding, but she definitely ate much more than her older brother ever did - though he was much more frequent.

Here's what the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends on their parenting website:

Hello! I have an 11 week old and he is eating anywhere from 2oz - 4oz at each feeding. Which is usually every 3 hours or so. At night he usually goes longer almost sleeping thru the night. But that is a good question for your dr/peditrician. I know my ped asks at our appt's how much and how often and they graph it on the computer. My son is actually on the bottom of his growth curve, but he was only 5-10oz when born too. He is getting weighed today because he has been sick for two days now runnign a small fever and they want to just check him out! Good luck. I think if the dr feels she is not gaining weight as she should be they would let you know~

I no longer have a 2 month old , but when I did I was also formula feeding and they would take around 5 or 6oz every 3-4 hrs. There is a guide on the back of the can that suggests how much and how many feeds in a 24 hr period they need at different ages , but it all does depend on the baby. Things you need to look for are: Is baby gaining weight? After a feed is he/she satisfied or still fussing and hungry? Or are they ok for an hr and then want more? If yes then maybe try giving an extra ounce and see how he/she does.

Mine are no longer 2 months either. Pay attention to her feeding cues... if she is pulling away and not wanting to eat more, she has had enough even if the formula container says she should have more. Talk to your pedi about weight gain if you are concerned. Most will let you come in for weight only if you are having issues... If she is getting hungry too soon or not satisfied than up what you feed her by an oz at a time. What the other responder said is true, they will not overeat, they will stop when full. Don't force her to eat more than she wants unless your pedi says there is a feeding/weight gain issue

My child is 4 months and i am breastfeeding but I formula fed my first and at that age, it should be between 2 to 3 oz.
