she should love barbies and playmobil too! My daughters are 9 and 12 and still play with the magnatiles and playmobile. Even their friends come over and play with those.
I am trying to make an idea list for my daughter who will be turning five this Oct. What toys or items do your kids LOVE to with that are in and around that age? She is above her age in maturity but still likes to have fun with younger type toys too. Ideas? Thanks!!!

I have a 5 year old son and he is all about his bike, but being an October birthday and being in IL may think of something for winter, like a new sled? My 4 year old dd is all about dress up still and loves her baby dolls. Does she like dolls? May invest in a nice stroller for her dolls?
What about art stuff? My dd also LOVES to doodle so I got her a ton of notebooks to doodle in, or maybe some paints and canvas?
Good luck!
Look up sticky stones. All of my kiddos love them! They're super strong magnets and you can do all kinds of fun stuff with them.
I keep kids 3-5 and this is what they like:
Dress up
crafting
cooking stuff
wooden jigsaw puzzles
Melissa and Doug makes a wooden, magnetic dress up doll that they all love
Bead lacing (melissa and doug)
When our 1st born was this age, we got her a flashlight, fishing pole, tackle box and a sleeping bag. Huge hit!
My daughter LOVES floor puzzles.
Here are some things my 5 and 7 year old girls like to do...
-art and craft projects
-animal hospital with their stuffed animals
-build with legos
-ride bikes and scooters
Crafts
Legos
Puzzles
Beanie Baby puppies
Feed the Kitty (game)
Zingo
Uno
Littlest Petshop
My daughter stopped really caring about toys (4.5) and has started asking me to do things for her birthday. We took her to Sweet & Sassy Salon for her bday and got a makeover. She loved this! When asked by family and friends what she would like she usually asks for chuckee cheese, movie tickets, etc. I enjoy this more cause its less stuff in my home :) LOL
Bike with training wheels
PIllow Pets (especially the smaller ones - which are hard to find)
Baby Dolls (especially those that cry)
Baby doll stroller
Electric car
Books, books and more books
Ralph Covert CDs (Ralph's World)
Diving sticks (if your daughter knows how to swim)
Stuffed Anamals (she has a bunny called HOP (from the movie HOP), a tiny chiwawa that came in a pink purse - she ditched the purse 2 months later, but the dog goes everywhere with her)
Nail polish
DS gaming system
Non-working phones that were given to the kids by our local cell phone store (they are the discontinued versions of the display phones) - FREE!
Our eye doctor gave her a childs old pair of reading glasses. I took the lenses out and she is forever walking around the house with them on.
Funny most people mentioned indoor activities and my head went first to outdoor stuff. You can tell I have boys! But what about a bike or kids roller blades...or ice skates. Someone mentioned a new sled or maybe snowshoes would be fun.
My 5yo loves anything art project wise (sticker books, painting, play-doh, bright construction paper and glue sticks). She also LOVES Littlest Pet Shoppe toys. She's big into flashlights right now and hiding under her bed covers, I've thought about buying her a little tent for Christmas this year. She also enjoys bead jewelry she gets to assemble (Doug and Melissa brand make some cute kits).
My DD likes to paint sun catchers, play with barbies, baby dolls, polly pockets, squinkies, zoobles, la la loopsy mini dolls, games like operation and memory, puzzles, writing in notebooks, any type of craft, and helping bake
Royal Rescue is just the coolest game involving problem solving, puzzle-type thinking. It's even fun for me.
Calico Critters
Play Kitchen
Lots of blank paper and markers.
That is what my 5 yo DD plays w/.
My six year old daughter plays with dinosaurs, knights, and occasionally, Liv dolls. However, she likes to do "setups" more...she just "sets" the toys up. I swear, she'd be perfectly happy with all the furniture and none of the dolls.
More than toys, though, she likes to draw, do crafts, play instruments, and read. This is about the age when they start to develop hobbies that hold more of an interest than toys.
Moon Sand
Hex Bugs
Legos
Art supplies
Scooter
"Perler Beads" (my kids love this)- here is the link:

(you can find it online like at E-bay too or Amazon).
Art is always good, as are books, especially for a 5 year old who is going to be reading on her own soon.
Also, I sell Discovery Toys and we have a couple of things that are really popular at that age. You can view the recommended toys, as well as our whole product line, at http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/karenchao
Playful Patterns - a series of 34 increasingly complicated mosaics with fun shapes and colors; kids can follow the templates or create any design they come up with!
Zingo - a fun bingo-style board game that is very popular with boys and girls aged 4 - 8 (or even older!)
Playtown Series - choose from a Pet Hospital, Restaurant or School; these wooden playsets lets kids use their imagination as they act out different scenes and situations (note: these are only available while supplies last, so purchase now if you are interested)
Happy birthday to your little girl!!
