Mmmm! I love fall. I love being able to break out those fall recipes.

I like soup, so come fall we do a lot of soups such as

Moroccan carrot soup
butternut squash soup
chili (my favorite recipe is a butternut squash vegetarian chili with swiss chard)
chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles

We also make apple cake in the fall, it has shredded apples and apple butter in the batter and a caramel frosting. I start making pies more often because I have to test out what recipes I will use at Thanksgiving. Some of the best ones have been apple crumb pie, pear almond tart, lemon creme, snickerdoodle pie, and concord grape.

Pot roast & bacon wrapped tenderloin.

A favorite of ours is lentil soup, with fresh (hot) bread. Yum!!
Pumpkin dessert - which is a layered yellow cake mix, pumpkin pie type layer and crumb topping. Also Yum!
And Hot Spiced wassail - we keep it on the stove for several days, bringing it up to a boil each morning and keeping it on low throughout the day - a hot drink always ready.

Oh, I love all the foods you listed! Now I'm hungry!

So far this year I have made pumpkin cheesecake, 4 gallons of apple cider (we still have tons of apples to juice!), cheese and tomato casserole, homemade chicken noodle soup, and apple pies.

My mom made the most delicious Curried Carrot Soup! It was amazing! I am planning on making butternut squash soup in the next week or so.

Today I am going to make tomato soup out of tomatoes from our garden and have grilled sandwiches spread with homemade pesto. I love fall!!!!

Oh, and I just scrolled down to Galwaygirl's post and salivated a little! Galway, can you pass on some recipes to us???

Apple pie
pumpkin muffins/bread
banana bread
White chicken chili
Chicken stove top casserole (on the back of stove top box/can). It's awesome.
Spud ole's, like the serve at Mcalister's deli. Large baked potatoes covered in canned chili, mexican shredded cheese and sour cream.

I recently found crockpotgirls.com They have recipes galore for chicken, beef, pork and vegetarian. Last night I made their bbq chicken, and it was great.

Mmmmm, corn bread! That sounds great. Made me question if I have the ingredients to make it for dinner!

I've made two batches of peach cobbler and have enough to make another. The problem is my husband eats it all. His all time fav.

I'm itching to make potato soup!

Corn chowder with bacon cheddar biscuits was dinner last night. I love making stews, soups, chili, casseroles and anything with apple, pumpkin and cranberries. Basically by the time summer is over and the weather is cool enough to use the oven again, I'm ready to spend lots of time in the kitchen.
Here's what I've been dying to make since July:
meatloaf
spaghetti and meatballs
stromboli
chicken and dumplings
chili mac
baked ziti with hot Italian sausage
jambalaya
pork and tomatillo stew with rice
and lots and lots of cakes and cookies

Where I grew up fall is hunting season. I typical fall meal would include some game meats, Spaetzle (German home-made pasta), red cabbage, glazed chestnuts, fried apple slices with cranberry sauce. Since we are vegetarian we don't do the meat but I make stuffed portabello mushrooms with a creamy sauce instead of the meat with sauce.

I love to smoke. I like to smoke using mesquite best, but hickory or Jim Beam barrels (cured white oak) are all good.

I do smoked turkey, chicken, ribs, pork roasts, steaks, and pork and beans. I don't much care for pork and beans out of the can, but if you smoke ribs until they are real tender and take some of the rib meat, dice it and put it in to the pork and beans pot along with some of the juices off the ribs, pork and beans become wonderful(!!!).

If you like potato salad, boil the potatoes with the skins on, then place them on the grill to add a slightly smokey flavor and then it becomes real interesting and very good.

Good luck to you and yours.

I have a wonderful cheesy chicken chowder recipe that I make, with or without cheese, that's always gobbled up and lasts three days if we're lucky. It's versatile enough to change up to sausage chowder or a seafood chowder.

Right now I'm doing my first crockpot roast of the season. It's actually time to add red potatoes and baby carrots. The only seasonings I added are salt, pepper, and some gravy with half a cup of water.

I also love baking anything "apple" and I loved making stuffed breads. I have a wonderful Italian bread recipe that uses quick-rise yeast that I also use for pizza crust.

Yum! Making me hungry for all of these comfort foods, but without being able to workout, I gotta be very careful! (I have a neck disc thing going on..can barely hold my own head up let alone lift weights..ugh!) I get the crock pot out more. Chili, roast, etc. My hubby is not a soup guy (he says soup is a beverage! LOL), but my teen daughter and I like a few kinds. I am not a fantastic cook, so I just have a few simple recipes, but definately more hearty foods are done starting now!

This is a fun, easy EASY fall treat and pretty healthy as far as treats go and makes me feel fall has arrived!

Get a spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin (100 % pumpkin, not pie filling stuff). Mix the two together and make as drop cookies (spray your cookie sheets, about 325* 8-10 min.) You can make them any size you want..I do small ones as they are prefect for my daycare kidlets! Add a smear of cream cheese frosting for a little bit of flourish.

If you google it, there are options for adding raisins and/or nuts as well, but my kidlets just love these cake-like cookies as is!

YUM!

Any type of Chili, red bean with beef or turkey or white bean chicken chili with corn bread. Butternut squash soup with biscuts. Lemon chicken orzo soup or regular chicken orzo soup with fresh rosemary potato bread. A roast smothered in fresh garden herbs, roasted over garden veggies like carrots, potatoes, onions and fennel.
Potato soup and broccoli soup are also a big hit at my house. I really like any soup that I can use up my garden veggies in.
I love this time of year! I also love going to apple orchards and then baking an apple crisp!

Have you ever had White Chicken Chili? Buy the McCormick's 3x5 seasoning envelope or the Bush's Great Northern Beans; both have recipes. Instead of water I use Chicken Broth for more flavor. Both recipes have alternative options. You can use chicken breasts (sauted) or my favorite, Rotissere Chicken. I serve mine with rice to make more of a meal (brown or white). Double up the recipe b/c it's that good! Great for leftovers, too. Corn bread (muffins) or any goes good!
