Has anyone personally had or know of someone who has had any type of Facet Joint Injections? My husband has chronic lower back issues due to hereditary disc issues. He has tried Cortizone shots, but his Dr is now recommending a Facet injection.
I know he's nervous, so curious on how the procedure goes and the degree of relief experienced, and long term benefits.

He does see a chiropractor an a regular basis.
My husband had this done (he has three fractured discs). He had 14 shots done. He was awake. He said it was "uncomfortable" but he has been through worse. He got temporary relief, maybe 4-6 months.
He said that he would not do it again though. For my husband's issues, surgery is really the only option - and he really doesn't want to do that. So for now he just lives with the pain.
I don't have personal experience but my dad and my girl friend's husband have...
it's scary...the shots do alleviate the pain and can help a TON....my sister in law had it done but after a while - they stopped working and she had to have back surgery done....

I have had them a couple of times, unfortunately they were very temporary (a couple of months). I also had a facet procedure where they cauterize the nerve roots to prevent the pain. Once again, very temporary. I ultimately had to have a second lumbar fusion and that fixed it!!
