External Hard Drive Recommendation for Mac

So first I have to say I love Apple even more today then I did yesterday. My computer stopped working yesterday (would not boot up) and I made an appointment at Apple today and they spent 1 hour with me today, no charge, and fixed whatever the problem was, hopefully :)

So my question: I do back up my data regularly but not all of it. I would like a recommendation for an external hard drive (not the time capsule) something more reasonably priced.

Any recommendations. Thank you in advance.

Hi V.! I too love Apple products, service/support. There really are several good brands for the Mac platform. I would go with anything from Western Digital, Seagate, or LaCie. I have the Western Digital My Passport. It's tiny, well priced, and works with Time Machine. $160 for 1TB! http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1855930#TS

we have a Western Digital MyBook external drive for backup of our Mac Mini. It's been pretty easy to use for us, got it at Costco a couple years back so the ones on sale now have much larger memory capacity than ours.

I am not sure about prices, but two of m y 3 bosses use a Mac, and they have what's called the "one touch" back up. It's an external backup/hard drive that plugs in and at the end of hte day you press the button and it backs up ALL of your work. I am honestly in no position to decide what a reasonable price is for your particular need ( I am bad with that kind of stuff anyway), because really it is dependant on your income and what you are willing to spend. I know that our business spent about $300-$350 on this for the boss and he has been using it for a year or so now and loves it.
Hope that helps!

I have a Mac Mini at home and I love it. It's perfect for home computer stuff or as a backup drive. I'd say check one out! We also have an external LaCie drive that I keep audiobooks and other files on and it has been completely Mac-compatible.

We have used Western Digital and Iomega for several years with no issues. I have heard many positive reviews for LaCie, but it was out of our price range at the time :( Good luck ,and ALWAYS back up your data :)
