I was going to suggest an animal person/entertainer! I don't know of any one locally but you could always call Burr Oak Woods and ask for ideas. I know they're in MO, but they could guide you possibly. A magician would also be fun!
Hello Moms, I am trying to find some ideas for entertainment for my sons Cub Scout Pack for next year's Blue and Gold Ceremony (a year end celebration). The target audience is 1st through 5th grade boys. We always seem to draw a blank on ideas for entertainers. We can pay a fee, although not a huge amount. This would be for 2012 so we'd have plenty of time to get on someone's schedule. Our Pack is in Olathe.
Thanks in advance, I always get great information from this site.

I just went to my sons Blue and Gold dinner. They hired a magician. It was great. All the parents and kids loved it.
I think a Cowboy Poet or preofessional Storyteller would be cool.
What time of the year is the Ceremony? If it is warm outside can you maybe have it at a local pool? If not, what about doing a caranival type of theme with a dunk tank. I'm sure the parents would love to help with this one. With this young of an age I wouldn't really recommend hiring someone for entertainment.
I'm sure the Mama's on here can give some great advice on low cost things that boys love!
We recently had our B & G banquet and hired a juggler. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the show. You can access his website at brianwendling.com. We also had a magician several years ago, who was also quite a big hit. I'm sorry I don't recall the name anymore.
You'd have to Google in your area, but kids love when the "animal guy" comes to programs. Here it is called Silly Safari. They bring all sorts of exotic animals for the kids to see and touch.
