Have you tried Descanso Gardens (La Canada) and/or Underwood Farms (Moorpark) http://www.underwoodfamilyfarms.com/. It's a bit out of the way for you but well worth the trip.
I was wondering if anyone has entertainment ideas for an 18 month old in the Los Angeles area. We have been to Gymboree, the LA Zoo, 3rd street Promoade, the Pier, Americana and just about every park and mall in a 50 mile radius. Any suggestions?
Thank you ladies for all the great ideas!

There's tons of stuff to pay do:
Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens has a Children's Garden, San Marino
Descanso Gardens has a great little train ride, La Canada
Little Barn Playground, Downtown LA
Amy's Playground, South Pasadena
Kid's Island, Arcadia
Peekaboo Playland, Eagle Rock
Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific
Kidspace Museum, Pasadena (free first Tuesday evening of every month)
Griffith Park has Travel Town, Griffith Park & Southern Railroad (the miniature train ride), Pony rides, Merry Go Round
California Science Center in Exposition Park
LA Arboretum, Arcadia
Music Together
My Gym
Little Gym
Under the Sea Indoor Playground, West LA
Kidz Playland, Glendale
Playhouse 4 Kids, La Crescenta
then, of course, there's:
Disneyland/CA Adventure
But at 18 months, you really don't have to try too hard to entertain an 18 mos. old. Just the local park with a good swing and slide and cool climbing structure will do. My kids would be happy just rotating visits to all the local city parks. But since I get bored, my family has memberships to the Huntington, Descanso/Arboretum, the LA Zoo, and Kidspace too.
Go back to your local park....are you sure YOU aren't the one who is bored? I have 2yr old boy girl twins-they have been going to the same park since they were * year old- we go 4 times a week-SAME park and they love it! They are not bored ( its Douglas park a pretty big one-but stillthey have been there hundres of times and still love it- its a wonderful uxury that you want to bring your child everywhere-but don't worry the local park is great-over and over and over- you will see-they will slowly master the steps, hang on the bars and slide down the slide alone! Good luck!!!
The butterfly pavilion in Pasadena
The Coop in North Hollywood
Chasing pigeons at the Palisades park next to the pier
And have you been to the Aquarium under the pier?
Enjoy
How about storytime at your local library or swim classes? Other than that I'd love to hear everyone else's suggestions since I have a 14 month old I'm trying to entertain in the same area.
Have you been to Kidspace at the Rose Bowl?
Check out local Mommy groups like www.meetup.com/mamasofsgv Sometimes the best thing is to get them to play with other kids!!! Keeps them occupied!
Hello V.,
Just you spending time with your child doing whatever IS entertainment. Sounds like you're doing a good job at keeping it stimulating for yourself as well.
Enjoy your baby,
Wendy
