Enormous Acne After Weaning Third Child

My long-time friend Astrid weaned her third son three years ago. After she weaned him, her face broke out in acne, and has stayed like that since then. Needless to say she has seen countless doctors and alternative healers, has tried all sorts of ointments, changes in diet, stress reduction exercises... you name it -- she's tried it, nothing helps. What's more, the acne is really bad. It is not a few bad spots here and there, but her face actually looks covered with big, inflamed pimples. She is carrying her burden very well. But, is there soemthing more she could try? Has anyone of you great moms out there experienced this? Has it gone away? What did you do? Any suggestions welcome... Thanks!

I recommend visiting a dermatologist. In my case I use Niapads which have a Niacinamide or Vit B3 as key ingredient. Vit B3 has been shown to be more effective in treatment of acne than certain antibiotics (check scientific literature on product webpage). The product has no antibiotic like side-effects. I occasionally use it to remove makeup and face cleansing - like a vitamin facial. It also has lavender oil which leaves behind a lovely scent. All the best.
PS - Niapads - facial pads are used externally.

I have a tried and true approach. It requires diligence and a huge commitment to 'your' diet. Whatever's feeding the acne is coming from the foods 'you' are eating. 'Your' endocrine system is also in a state of imbalance and needs some TLC. There are some topical things to do as well. 'You' will see a dramatic difference soon and a sustainable difference as long as 'you' are willing to stay the course. Everything is 100% natural. No drugs, harsh chemicals, or dashed hope.

Has she looked into possibly having candida overgrowth? That can result in acne. I have eczema after my daughters birth (i was given antibiotic, steroid cream and eat lots of sugar all of which can cause it) and I believe candida is the cause. I just bought Threelac to see if it helps, but i've only been on it for a few days. Candida is the cause of many problems but doctors refuse to acknowledge it for some reason.

Accutane. It's a pretty serious drug, but I experienced horrible acne after my second child was weaned and NOTHING was helping. It was totally hormonal, with my acne getting worse at certain times of the month. Anyhow, finally I asked my dermatologist to put me on Accutane. It is a 6-month course of medication and it's not for everyone - it can cause a fair amount of stress on your liver, and you really can't eat red meat or anything with cholesterol, so it's kind of a pain to deal with. However, I finished my treatment a few months ago and my skin is beautiful now! Perfectly clear, smooth, and NEVER breaks out. My understanding of Accutane and how it works is that it uses huge amounts of Vitamin A to permanently shrink all of the oil glands under the skin. Without excess oil, the skin can't have acne. When nothing else works, Accutane is the way to go. I am glad I did it, even though it wasn't easy. I hope this helps your friend!

Has she considered Accutane? It is pretty potent but it WORKS. I had terrible acne in my late teens and early 20's and took it for 5-6 mos. It absolutely works! You do HAVE to follow the doctor's orders regarding it and stay under a doctor's care to monitor for side effects. Another less drastic measure would be some prescription antibiotics.
