Hi Moms - we are going on vaca with the family in a few weeks and I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good, but not too expensive umbrella stroller? This is the first trip we are taking on an airplane with my 11 month old girl, and really don't want to lug my big stroller with me. I have been looking around, but wanted to see if anyone had any good recommendations.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all your responses and good advice! We actually ended up getting the Combi Flare, we'll see next week how it is but looks perfect for what we need it for. Thanks again!

If you buy a cheap one you get what you pay for. I have gone through several cheap umbrella strollers and finally got smart and purchased a maclaren they are easy to use have a great warranty come w/ a rain cover and they recline some of them come with a carry strap and others have a carry handle great for travel and they go to 55lbs my 7 yr old fits comfortably in it when we've been out places late so it is definately worth the money you will get many many years out of it.

I bought the graco ipo stroller about 6 months ago. I loved my big stroller, but often found it too bulky. I had the babies r us stroller - I'm 5'9 and it was useless to me. I wanted something that reclined and had some storage too. My daughter loves it. It's not too short for me either. It also has a shade. I got mine on amazon for about 80 bucks. Some styles were a bit more. It also goes up to 55lbs.

Hi I dont know if you take trips a lot and if you are planning on having a separate seat for your daughter on the plane- this is just a suggestion because we travelled a lot when I had a one year old- we got him one of those car/airplane/stroller seats that are FAA certified- it folds up into a car/airplane seat then the wheels pop out and its a stroller. it was awesome when we travelled. It is expensive though, so its really only if you plan on taking more trips on an airplane. just a thought.

Babies R Us carries a simple umbrella stroller that has been a godsend for traveling - it was only 19.99 The only drawback is if you or your DH are tall... I'm only 5'4" and it is a little short for me, but my DH is over 6'5" and it is really too low for him to push comfortably. Other than that, it folds up great and has worked great on a bunch of airport trips!

Well I don't know about a good stroller, but I did not know if you are aware that right before you board the plane, the employes take your stroller and load it under the plane with the wheelchairs and other strollers. I found that it was much better to have my big stroller, to help carry our carry ons (and I was travling alone with our 13 month old). So you might want to think about using your big stroller in the air port, if you were not thinking of checking it. Also when I went, we were the first to get off the plane and our stroller was there waiting for us, it was verry helpful! I hope I helped, Have a great vacation!

First of all I love your name ;). My daughter is Kaitlyn B ;).

Anyways, don't get an actual umbrella stroller. Walmart has an inexpensive stroller with the storage underneath and it reclines. It also has a cup holder for you. It's a little bulkier than an umbrella stroller, but not much. It's not as long. Folds pretty flat too. I use it more than my big stroller.

Hi K.,

I bought the Combi Flare for my son and I love it. It is very light, fols up small and easily and also reclines. I bought it to go on vacation as well and it worked wonders. I bought it on amazon.com, it was cheaper there than at Babies R Us. Good luck on your trip!!

I just spend $20 on the umbrella stroller that Toys R Us has on display when you first walk in to any of the stores. So far so good. It has a storgae bag on the back with a cup/bottle holder in the bag and you can take the bag off. It doesnt recline or anything but it does fold up nice and is easy to clip together and it has a carry handle on the side that has come in handy for me. It is not my everyday stroller for outings I just keep it in the car for qucik trips ut if I was traveling with a little one I would use it instead of my bigger umbrella stroller

I'm not sure what expensive is for you or what the cost in now. I bought a Costa stroller about 2 years ago and I know their still selling them but not at what price. It was about $100 then. It actually has a carry strap to through over your shoulder. It folds up in half like normal strollers but then it actually folds the side in as well. We've taken this to Disney with us twice and wouldn't use another.
