Hi there!

I've never made it before and my family is not a fan of mushrooms. I've googled recipes and noticed that mushrooms are in this dish. Anyone have a recipe to share that's easy and without muchrooms?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions!!!! I made it without the mushrooms with the brown gravy idea and it turned out so yummy! =)

I don't put mushrooms in mine all the time.

The easiest way I've ever fixed it is this way:

5 Hamburger patties
2 jars beef gravy

cook hamburger patties, pour gravy over cooked patties and let simmer for 15 minutes - while simmering prepare mashed potatoes and veggies - viola - dinner inside of 20 minutes!!!

I had never made this dish before until about a year ago when I came across a recipe from Cooking Light - no mushrooms! Here is a link to it:

It calls for half ground turkey and half ground beef, but we use all ground beef (my husband is anti using turkey as a substitute!). My whole family, kids included, love this meal - plus it is quick and easy to make. I serve it with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.

The patties are a basic meatloaf mixture. For Gravy we use a little of the pan drippings, cream of celery soup and water.

I agree with cheryl, just make it with hamburger patties and pour brown gravy over it after they are cooked. good luck!

I'm making this tonight:

Mix
1lb ground beef
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup crushed crisp buttery crackers like Ritz
1/4 cup chili sauce
1 egg
form 4 1/2-inch-thick patties and brown in a non-stick skillet on medium heat about 5 minutes each side. Drain if necessary.

Add
1 14.5 oz chan of diced tomatoes, undrained
1 12oz jar of home-style beef gravy
stir and bring to a boil then reduce heat to med.-low, cover and simmer 10 minutes

I serve it with mash potatoes and whatever veggie is on hand.
salt/pepper/seasoning to taste

Just leave the mushrooms out. No biggy. A recipe is never written in stone. Add or take away what you like. Good luck.
