This Christmas Day me and my family are staying home because we're doing our big family Christmas on Christmas Eve. I will have my friend and her daughter from out of state here and my mom will be here for a little while. What we want to do is just have easy food that doesn't take alot of preparation that we can put out about noon and snack on all day so it's an easygoing pajama day where the kids can play and we can relax. I am looking for any suggestions on EASY recipes. There will be 4 adults, 2 teenagers, and 4 toddlers. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanx. :)

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

I have the easiest child friendly dinner planned:

easy app and fun for kids: pigs in a blanket...fun to make the day before.
veggie platter
Entree:
mac and cheese - this is made in the crockpot--soo easy and soo good. You could do a sit down or just grab throughout the day.
spiril ham from heavenly ham - pop in the oven; already cut.
Then i just do frozen corn and get some rolls!

If you want the mac and cheese recipe, let me know!!

Make wedding soup.
Chicken broth
frozen meatballs
frozen precooked chicken stips (the kind you put in a salad)
a bag of spinach or romaine lettuce
a bag of baby carrots
a box of ancini d'pepi noodles
salt and pepper

Put ingredients in crockpot. Nibble all day

get crusty italian bread and some pies serve hot cocoa w/ candycanes
also make reheatable casseroles:
lassagne, broccoli rice, breaded chicken is good cold or make a big pot of spag. sauce with hot sausage in the crockpot, saur kraut and kielbasa
if you pick one and do it every year it will be you tradition.

You could do veggie & fruit trays, put hot dogs in the crockpot, mac & cheese. Eat as you are hungry.

Hello!! I love to hear that other people have "pajama day" on Christmas. We started this about three years ago and the kids love it!!! We have a small house, so cooking a big dinner around the gifts and company is just not going to happen, ever. I make a lasagna and a salad the day before Christmas (or even two days before, depending on our plans). That way, you can just pop it in the oven when you need it. For snack foods, I usually do a cheese and cracker tray and of course cookies!!! Hope this helps, enjoy your Chrsitmas!!

Hi, I love easy food (: I would suggest some sandwich wraps or little sandwichs (you can buy them or make them). Also, I have a wonderful recipe for black bean salsa that is a great snack food. A pasta salad would be an easy snack food. Veggie tray, fruit tray, or cheese and crackers. Any of these would be easily made or purchased. We usually have a Christmas brunch, so these are some of things that we usually had in the afternoon. Stuff that is easy to just walk by and grab a bite(:
If you want some specific recipes just let me know, I can provide those too(: I love to cook and I love quick and easy!
Your Christmas sounds wonderful....enjoy a relaxing and fun holiday! A.

Hi L., not that you would want it for toddlers, as it might pose a chocking hazzard, unless they can chew good, or like sukcing the juice out of dill pickles.

Take a package fo cream chees and soften it. Spread it on boiled or chopped ham. Place a dill spear on the ham and wrap it around the pickle. Place about 4 tooth picks through the pickle to hold the meat on, and cut between each of the tooth picks. Depending on the size of teh "bite" that you want, you may want to just use 3 tooth picks, but I think the taste it too overwhelming, so we use 4.

Also, how about a "chex" mix or other type of ceresal mix or trail mix using raisins, nuts, dried fruit, etc. You can add what you want to taste as you like.

Have fun and enjoy
K.

My favorite finger food easy recipe is veggie pizza, gets those toddlers and pickey eaters to eat their veggies too.

You roll out a package of crecent rolls, in one piece, flat onto a cookie sheet. Bake it at the reccomended temp and time, or till done and golden brown.

you then take an 8oz package of cream cheese at room temp and add about 1/2 c. ranch dressing, more or less dressing can be used depending on your taste. Add the ranch dressing to the cream cheese and beat with a mixer until smooth.

Spread the cream cheese/ranch mixture evenly onto the baked dough.

Then you just top it with diced veggies of your choice, some of my favorites are:
Broccoli, grated carrot, green pepper, onion, mushrooms, olives, califlower, and I always top it off with a sprinkle of cheese. I like shredded colby/jack.

****WARNING: you may want to steer clear of using cucumber, tomato, or lettuce, these veggies have a tendancy to give off water and make is soggy*****.

I have taken this "pizza" to parties and picknics, wherever, you name it, and there is never any left over, so I always figure thats a good sign.

merry christmas it sounds like a beautiful and relaxing day you have planned.
