Does anyone know of a good place to get really nice easter basketts? I haven't introduced my son to candy yet so I would like one that has lots of toys and little/no candy. My son is 2 1/2. Thanks for reading!

When my daughter was little I bought a wire basket shaped like a chicken and used it every year. Instead of cellophane grass I put a fresh spring outfit in the bottom. Each year I bought a wooden or plastic decorated egg ornament and then the following year I added those to me other Easter decorations. I also like to add books, puzzles and toys and cute Easter socks instead of overloading with candy.

I agree with making your own.

Those packaged ones usually just have cheap toys that break in them anyway.

We have never bought them. As a child, my mom always surprised us with something special in our Easter basket (it was the same basket we used every single year). It's more special that way because you customize it for your child.

Make your own. It will be so much more meaningful to you and him if his favorite things are in there. There is no need for candy to be in there, and if you choose to put candy in there, most towns have places like Trader Joes or a natural food store that sells candies with all natural ingredients in them. We buy organic suckers for our daughter, and they are made with all natural ingredients, including fruit extracts! Yum!
Also, Pottery Barn Kids always has awesome Easter baskets that can be used year after year, so you can start a tradition by having the same basket, but with different surprises, and the routineness of the basket will be familiar and comforting to him. Those are my ideas!! Enjoy!

My suggestion would be to go to a store like Garden Rigde, Michaels, Hobbie Lobby Etc. and create your own basket for him.. They have really inexpensive baskets of various shapes and sizes and the beauty of this plan is that you fill the basket with the items you want him to have. Fruit Chews can substitute for the candy with the added benefits of the extra vitamins they provide.. you are better off creating your own..besides mother knows best and you have the inside scoop on what he REALLY likes....Good Luck.

I remember finding baskets that had themes - car, dinosaurs etc with no candy. I think they were at Target but you may have to look around. I know there are alternatives to candy baskets b/c I didn't want the candy in them either. Or you could make one yourself - fill a basket with a book, a couple of toys and fun t-shirt - or whatever you feel is appropriate.

Make one yourself. Discount stores (even Dollar Tree) should have everything you need.

I love making my girls' Easter baskets. Not only can I really personalize them, but I can limit the amount of candy. In fact I usually only put one candy in each, usually a choclolate bunny. Watching them dig into there baskets and finding just what they wanted is so exciting.

I would HIGHLY recommend making your own. Otherwise, unless you spend a TON of money, you will end up with junky toxic stuff from China.

Get a little Easter basket and fill it with nuts, dried fruits, whatever yummy treats he can eat. Fill a couple of plastic eggs with coins to go in his piggy bank. Maybe one small toy to fill it up.

If he hasn't had candy, I assume he is young. We did an easter basket for my 18 month old last year and he LOVED the coins and I put one M&M in three eggs and he was so excited.

Have fun! He will just be thrilled to get that...you don't have to worry about the candy, nor the junky toys that will break and be thrown out in days.

When you make your own, be sure to add bubbles, sunglasses a sun hat and maybe some water or bath toys..
