Easter Basket - When Did It End?

When I realized the Easter Bunny isn't real I no longer got Easter Baskets. I'm thinkiing when I turned 8 or 9. I was sad to no longer get an Easter Basket full of candy. I think I'll always get my kids Easter Baskets probably till end of high school. Just wondering when you all end Easter Baskets.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow, didn't realize so many still get Easter baskets! That is so sweet! My parents just didn't think of doing things like that. For Christmas, it would be my siblings and I putting the Christmas tree up too. I want to make some fun traditions for the holidays with my children. I think I too will always make them Easter baskets even as adults. They are little now and believe in the Easter bunny but it would always be fun to give them baskets as who doesn't like a basket full of their favorite things!

I think it's like Santa, as long as you still believe...

My daughter is 17 abd she will always have an Easter basket. The same one she had for her first Easter. It is just something I will do.

Someday, I might be able to add grandchildren to this tradition!!

I stopped giving my daughter an Easter basket when she had children. But I still usually give her a small gift on Easter. My granddaughter is 11 and I'm going to contribute to her basket too.

I got an Easter Basket until my mom died three years ago -making it 39 years! We always had fun with it -and she would fix my husband one as well after we got married. I plan to do the same for my kids! I still fix a little basket with goodies in it for a place setting for my MIL and my dad.

i guess i'm the oddball! my mom and dad stopped baskets when we turned 13, maybe giving chocolate at most post that age. I'm following suit. my oldest is almost 15 and will get nothing. my youngest is 8 and will get a basket, but limited candy. we are putting money in his eggs this year instead.

My parents still give me an Easter basket if I see them, and if not - send me a package of candy and small stuff. I'm 26 :)

To stop giving baskets when they stop believing seems cruel! Did they stop giving you Christmas presents when you stopped believing in Santa?

heh, mine are 25 and 21, and my spare son (living here temporarily) is 20. they're all getting baskets! just little ones, though. probably a t-shirt and a chocolate bunny.
as long as they're here, they'll get 'em. my oldest doesn't live here any more but is coming home for easter dinner, so he'll get one too. so will any gfs who show up.
everyone's moving out this year so not sure if i'll keep it going or not. but if they come home, they'll probably get a basket.

In our house if you're under 18 you get a basket. If you're 18+ and you live with us we give you a little something or if you're visiting you'll get a little something.

For example, we have 7 year old triplets who will get baskets. We have a 16 year old who will get a basket. We have a 25 year old and his wife who will not get baskets but will get a little something like a mature gold foil chocolate bunny and adult type jelly beans. My son is getting lounging pants that he likes to wear. We'll also lay out bowls of candy and Easter cookies and such for all.

Why give up baskets? You should make yourself up a basket of goodies for the kids to see and it'll make up for what you didn't get as a kid!

3 years ago (girls were 12 and 13) we were traveling on Easter, so there were no baskets that year, and haven't been since. However, Santa still comes each year and fills the stockings.

It ended when we all moved out. Please dont end it early. Example: it is spring break here, we have 3 extra kids sleeping over. One's mother already ended it (she is 16) and she secretly told us she is sad. I told her to tell her mom and she smiled. My husband cant wait until they all know and then end it. I am the opposite. I dont see why i cant give my babies little baskets indefinitely. :) Just me!

I'm 35 and I don't get an Easter basket anymore (unless you count the candy I "borrow" from my kids baskets-LOL), but my cousin who is my age and does not have a family still gets an Easter basket filled with her favorite candy and other non food items that she enjoys. Mine stopped around the time my sisters were old enough to not believe so for me it was later, around 16 and they were 9 & 13. I plan to give baskets until they tell me to stop or until they are totally out of the house whichever comes first ;)

my kids are 23, 21, 13, and 10 plus to step kids, 22 and 20. if i lived near them they'd all still be getting a basket of goodies. i might include more mature things, stuff they can't afford for themselves but it's just a show of "still my baby". So basically i ended 4 of them when they live across the world from me, literally

My mom gave me an Easter basket up until she died 5 years ago. I am 37! They did change over time. I no longer got loads of candy (thankfully) but would get small, fun items. My mom had an odd sense of humor so I would get some wild stuff. I give my husband and a friend of mine (my kids' "adopted" Nana) a basket every year. It has some treats in it but is mostly little fun stuff. My friend loves Mario Kart - this year I found a little Lego Mario for $1 so that's in there + a toothbrush, toothpaste, deo, body spray, coffee, etc. I send away for every free sample I can get my hands on and frequently use those in my Easter baskets. Also, I scour clearance bins and buy post Xmas and Valentine's. I do the same for my kids Easter baskets. I don't like them to be all candy so they are always more "stuff" than candy. That said, I don't like clutter so I don't get useless stuff. Anyhow, everyone LOVES their Easter baskets!!! My husband got emotional the 1st year I gave him one. He hadn't had one since he was a little boy! And my friend keeps giving her empty basket back to me while saying, "Hint, hint..." It's cute! I plan on giving my kids Easter baskets until I die.
