I am shopping for a new vacuum and would love some opinons of the Dyson dc28 Animal. We have a lab, a 3 year old, hardwood floors and 2 rugs, and a lot of dirt. I vacuume everyday and need something that works and works well. The dyson is expensive so before spending the money I thought I would ask some real moms! Thanks for your advice in advance!

What can I do next?

I just ordered the dyson ball through an acquaintance who used to be a rep for them. I questioned whether to spend the extra money for the animal as we have a Boston terrier. She said you are paying for attachments. I have only used the ball once as I just got it, put it picked up a ton of stuff, is really light weight and rolls smoothly. It has a few attachments with it, so I think it will work fine for my needs. Not sure u can go wrong either way, it's just if u want to spend the extra money for the attachments or not.

We have/had 2 labs, carpet/tile you name it. Bought the Dyson Animal 6 years ago and love it. When if this one every dies out I will purchase another one and another and another. I will be loyal to Dyson for as long as they are around.

We all sound like an info-mercial! Love it, worth the money, would buy another one.

Two kids under 3 and two long haired dogs. It does such a great job that you look forward to vacumming. The wand is easy to use WHILE you are going from room to room.

I do use a handheld vacuum to do the stairs because our stairs are SO steep and the Dyson is so large....I would hate to see it fall down the stairs! That would make me cry. :)

I have had shaggy shedding dogs for 26 years (purebred husky passed at 16 and husky collie mix is turning 11 this summer) Ibought a Dyson and have never looked back. I bought the Dyson Drive b/c it was the best deal at the time--at least 5-6 years ago. Love IT! The different styles/models aren't as important as that Dyson suction. Worth every cent. I'd buy another tomorrow if this O. blew up.

I have the regular Dyson and tons of carpet and a Lhasa Apso. This vacuum isprobably my favorite thing I own. You will be shocked about the amount of stuff you pick up- especially the first few times you use it. It is worth every penny- just wash the filters and dust canister once a month like it recommends. You don't have to worry about buying filter, bags, etc. It is super easy to empty. It works great on hard floors too. I use mine on ceramic tile in bathrooms and the kitchen.

Yup. Buy it. Got mine about 3 months ago and LOVE it!

Like others, we have a houseful (3 dogs, 2 teenagers at home, dirt from 2 horses and, yup, a husband who won't take off his shoes when he gets home). It's heavy, but I love it. It's taking me a while to get the hang of it on some runners, but totally worth the effort.

I followed it for a while on pricegrabber.com and wound up getting a FABULOUS deal at WalMart (really -- saved over $100). With their ship to store option, I didn't even have to pay shipping. If you're not going to buy right now, track the price for a while. I found it changed on various sites over a few weeks' time.

Good luck!

LOVE IT!! I bought less expensive vacuums first and ended up replacing them after 2 years or so. We finally bought a Dyson Animal about 3 years ago and LOVE IT!!! It's still going strong. Totally worth the investment:)

I've had my Dyson Animal 7 years? Can't remember. At first I had 2 teenagers, a husband and 2 golden retrievers. I still have the husband (yea) down to 1 teen in the house and the 20 something who visits. Plus I have a golden/lab mix AND a lab/huskey mix. Mostly hardwoods and rugs as well.
I still love my Dyson and would buy another in a heartbeat. Once you get it and use it the first few times, I bet you'll be surprised how much your old vacuum wasn't picking up. I know I was!

Dyson Animal? Yes Please! :-). We have a Dyson, I've had it for 7 years and it is still going strong. I don't foresee it happening soon but the next vacuum we get will also be a Dyson. We got ours at Costco and I don't think the Animal was out or we just went for the plain one. Still picks up hair from our two dogs and a cat.
