ANY shampoo with green tea tree oil..that will cure it
my son whom is 3 has some spots on his scalp that are very dry, we went to the dr. & he recommended to just use selsun blue (& also he confirmed it is just dry scalp & not fungal/ringworm)...i have been using the selsun blue for about 2 wks now but i have seen no improvement...these spots are very dry & crusty. (like when your baby has cradle cap & it gets all crusted over) anyone have any other suggestions? (i plan to speak with the dr. again but just thought i'd ask here too)
also he is disabled & is on meds for seizure disorder (& has been on other things in the past month for a minor surgery) which i think has affected this...he drinks plenty of water but i know being on medications can sometimes make things like this "flare up" more

I think that after you wash his hair use some hair moisturizer to keep it soft and that will hold off on some of the dryness. Hope that helps
My daughter had this problem when she turned 2 and we used everything the doctor told us to, but nothing worked. Finally I bout Loreal (for kids) shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner worked and after two weeks it was completely gone. I still use the conditioner everyday and it has not come back.
Both my daughters (4 & 1) have the same thing you are describing. Seborrheic Dermititis is what the pedi and dermatologist called it. We used Neutrogena T-Gel when it was really bad. I also found that putting a little Aquaphor (or A&D ointment in a pinch) on the spots and letting it sit for a little bit helped to loosen it up. I would just lightly scrape them off with my fingernail or you could just scrub well in the bath. I have found that the detergents I used seemed to be making it worse. After we switched to a dye-free detergent, our flair ups are few and far between. I also notice that it is worse for us in the summer in general. Give the T-Gel a try and see if it helps for you son. Good luck!
Selsun Blue is rather mild and it will not clear up this problem and neither will Neutrogena T-gel if it is the same thing my son had for about a year. His pedi tested him for a fungus and the test was negetive, too. So, after examining him, he recommended Nizerol. It is pretty expensive, but can be found at drugstores. I used it every other shampoo and his scalp was clear within a couple of weeks. I hope this helps!
Hello,
I would be cautious with those hair shampoos, too many chemicals. Try gentle cleansers, natural, don't add to his body more than his meds are already doing. Make sure he has no allergies, skin or food and then go from there. If you want to know more about the line of products I suggest go to www.m3vno.myarbonne.com
I have seen great results with them for babies and adults with psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, sensitive skin etc. I hope this helps. M.
check for allergies and drug interactions with phamacist before you do this. Buy a tube of lotrimin AF and a tube of triple antibiotic mix them together in a plastic container with a lid. every night before bed dab a little of this on the spots. In the morning wash it off with johnsons baby shampoo. It should only take a couple of days and it will be gone. I also used it on myself because I had chronic dry scalp. It is like craddle cap with is like a yeast or fungal infections from sweat and natural oils clogging the skin and pores.
Good luck
