Drinking Water on Cruise

OK this might be really silly, but I am trying to decide if I need to purchase a soda card on our cruise. It is just my daughter and I cruising and we drink water most of the time. I don't know where water falls in cruise "costs". Can you only get it in a bottle? and is it part of the soda card? Because the free beverages mentioned were coffee, tea, and lemonade. It's a Carnival Cruise if that matters.

What can I do next?

I drink mostly water. I bought one drink card. It gave me sodas and it gave me Shirley Temples during the shows in the evening. It also gave me fruit juices. Non-bottled water is free. But the water on cruise ships is better than the average city water.

I sailed Carnival. I watch my pennies very closely and I feel the drink card is very worth it. Buy the drink car the morning of the second day. You avoid the sales tax of the port city and you avoid the minimal amount of time the card can be used the last few hours the day you set sail. IF IT DOESN'T INCLUDE SODAS AND FRUIT JUICES, that's a new policy. I don't know if I would buy it then. You'll have to call Carnival to verify.

I would not buy the souvenir cup. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Good luck to you and yours.

I would ask the cruise line. We did Royal Carribean and it was something like $30 per kid for our 5 day cruise, so that's $6 in drinks a day. Find out what is offered as far as the buffets. You may just find yourselves stopping in the buffet areas often vs getting sodas (though they close earlier than the bars on some ships).

8KidsDad said most of what I was going to say. I drink liquor so I always get the liquor card, and the cards are cheaper than buying each drink, cocktail or soda! ;) But, I do drink a lot of water and not a lot of soda and I've been fine drinking the regular water on the ship.

Usually water is free and it's purified so no need for bottled water. I do always bring bottled water on a trip so I can bring it to the beach. Best bet is to call ahead and ask.

I would ask them about water. I believe it is free. We went on a disney cruise and the soda and water were free as long as you didn't order it at the bars. They even had soda fountains on the decks for easy access. :)
