Dresses and "Bubble Butts" - What WERE Designers Thinking?

Actually it isn't the dress makers, you are just not average. I have the same problem on top. My exes sister has a large butt, she used to give me all her dresses and I would alter them to be even. Basically taking them up 2 inches in the middle of the front and tapering it around.

It is not about being model thin and having no butt, you will find most people don't have this issue. It is frustrating, I know, my daughter got her dads butt. :p

I have this same issue, can't buy anything fitted cause if it fits in the waist it doesn't fit my butt, and if it fits my butt it is huge on my waist. Having a bubble butt is a excuse the expression pain in the a$$ when it comes to covering it!

My dresses are shorter in the back and my jeans don't come up quite so high toward my low back because of my bubble butt. This is why I cannot wear those low rise / below the waist jeans---there is not enough fabric in a low rise pair to make me feel like I am comfortably covered.

Be proud of your bubble butt! I have my flat-butted friends tell me all the time they wish they didn't have a flat booty.
And I buy lots of Lee brand pants/ shorts and Lands End skirts and dresses. Check them out!! They design their clothes for women who have butts and hips! Hooray that someone does.

Because designers model their clothes around the 5'9'' 115 pound model, that obviously has no T&A!!!

i buy dresses from Loft and they fit nicely - and flared cotton skirts also work - in hte summer I never wear shorts or pants of any type - and i have the roundest, firmest, fittest (imho) JLo butt on the planet! LOL - i spend a lot of time at hte gym doing squats to keep it high. Same issue though with waist is huge if it fits the boot - too tight in the boot if it fits the waist - sucks. However - i was not blessed with your fab DDs - I've got boob-flaps at best. love my booty though it's taken me years to embrace it - so you go girl - flaunt that bod!!!

Bubble butts are in (Kim K., J. Lo and Beyonce, for starters), so you ought to be able to find something that fits somewhere.

Just wear the bike shorts for safety, and stop braggin' about the woes of your tight, high a$s and your rack, will ya? You're making me feel inferior.

It's probably shorter in the back *because* of your buttage.

I have the same thing--but with tops being shorter in the front because of my boobs. Sort of "Tops and Bubble Boobs" here.

My thought about what were they thinking? They were thinking to make their dresses look perfect on the hanger, or emaciated model, and don't care what it looks like on real W.. And yes, I have this problem, too.

Thats one of the reasons I dont wear dresses even though I love them.

I have the same issue.... major boobage & buttage, so I don't really wear dresses or skirts... mainly because I can't find anything that fits me right. God forbid a grown W. doesn't have the body of a 12 year old boy. Sigh.

Well thankfully, you do have a shapely bubble butt and not a flat as a board butt, to show off!

But yes, this does happen.
Because, a bubble butt... does make clothing drape, differently in the back... hence, it being shorter in the back hemline.

I don't know why they do it either. Even if you didn't have one you'd have to have a completely flat butt for the dress not to be a smidgen shorter in the back. I have that problem sometimes with dresses too, I am petite but still have a bubble butt (like a Jlo mini haha). The only thing to do is try em on and look in the back. You keep the receipt lol? Thank goodness your son said something. The bike shorts is a good idea, I was thinking about doing it b/c I am known to play with my little one and I could do it without worrying about my dress (for those random play moments).

JLo has a clothing line and Apple bottoms is for "ghetto booties" too. They may get pricey though.

Your post made me laugh b/c I have the exact opposite problem! My butt (and chest I might add) is FLAT as flat can be. And I swear, the older my mother gets, the flatter her butt gets. And now I can only assume mine will too. Sometimes when I put on a specific pair of jeans my husband says "OH! Those makes your butt look nice and round!" It's actually a compliment - haha! Saw a tv show about butt implants recently and it peaked my interest. So, those little dresses look pretty good on me, but I'm betting there are A LOT of cute tops that look much better on you! :)

Is it really shorter in the back? Or was it riding up your on your butt? Or did you pull it down in the front and not in the back? OH wait - rereading your post. It seems that your round butt is causing the dress to become shorter.
I agree then, with the other post that said the dress makers just want their money. After you buy it and wear it - it's yours! They've made their money.

I have a few summer dresses and I keep pulling them down b/c I think they're too short (they're not, i'm just overly cautious). When I look in the mirror, I notice that it looks shorter in the back than it does in the front. I've had to stop pulling them down in the front.

A well-made dress doesn't do this as often, but it's always good to look at yourself from ALL angles b/c I have seen this happen to people and my first thought is usually that the dress is too small!
