I have several friends that see Dr. Terk in the Keller area. They really like him. Can't remember his first name. If we lived up there, we would probably use him also.
Hi,
I am a first time Mom with a 4 month old boy and having a hard time finding a good pediatrician. I made an appointment to see Dr. Rodger Knapp in South lake. I was just wondering if any of the Moms on here have seen him and what your thoughts were? Also if you have another good pediatrician that is around the Keller area let me know. Thanks you. Have a great day.

Dr. Knapp is AMAZING! He doesn't perscribe medicine like it's going out of style like a lot of other drs do. He will let you email your problems and quickly get back to you (no wasted trips to the office that are expensive and unnecessary).
Usually waiting room wait time is pretty quick, too. There was one time that I had to wait awhile, but that was it. I highly recommend him. You can check out his website at www.rogerknapp.com if you haven't already. Go to the medical link and it will answer pretty much any question about anything you can think of. Good luck and congratulations!
I took my daughter to him once, then switched to his partner, Dr. Nichols. I'll be honest and say I'm not totally enthused about either of them. My daughter had a labial adhesion (fairly common in females, doctors typically prescribe a hormone cream to fix it), and Dr. Knapp opened it, which caused her a lot of pain. What angered me most was that he did so without telling me what he was doing, and without explaining why or how to take care of it afterwards. So it closed and we were back to square one. I was really, really unhappy with that visit.
My neighbor sees him (her kids are 5 and 7) and is fine with him, but I wasn't pleased with that visit.
His partner, while ok, is just very quick. Visits are quick, and if I'm not armed with my questions on a piece of paper, I'd easily forget them. It's not that he isn't thorough, he's just very to-the-point, and doesn't spend time talking me through anything (as in, the reasons behind doing certain things).
We used to have a GREAT pediatrician, but he moved, so we had to find a new one. Our old pediatrician would spend 30 minutes talking us through everything, so I may have just gotten spoiled!
I have used Dr. Knapp going on 4 years now and I couldn't be happier with him. I live in a cul de sac and almost EVERY one of the moms on my street use either him or his partner Dr. Nichols and they both receive rave reviews.
He never seems in a hurry, answers more questions...and even brings up topics that I should ask but forget to... has a great, witty sense of humor, doesn't push drugs -- I know some people want to medicate their children at every case of the sniffles thinking it's going to turn into the plague or something.. he's not like that. He's always available via e-mail as well, which I really like when I have questions that don't always warrant a visit. His nursing staff is fantastic too and have always responded to my calls promptly. I've recommended him and Dr. Nichols to many people and, so far, no one has had a complaint and all are still going there.
My son used to go to Dr Knapp. In fact, I went to Dr Knapp when I was a kid (I'm 33). We switched to a doctor that was closer to our home when our second child was born. I did think Dr Knapp was a pretty good dr, good at explaining things to me and my son. I also liked Dr Nichols that is in the same practice.
