Double Stroller Recommendations

We have the Phil and Ted and love it. I thought they wouldn't like
the back seat, but for some reason they prefer it!

Hi, I too had to sell my lovely bugaboo and get a double stroller because I have a 17th month old and I am due in January. I opted for the Phil and Teds vibe stroller because it is the nicest and smallest double stroller out there. The only thing is you cannot put the car seat on the stroller if both kids are in it. But really how long do the use the infant car seat for? Also the good thing is that is converts to a single stroller too. I am probably just going to get one of those stroller frames that just carries the car seat for the first few months and when I have the baby by myeslf because my other daughter still goes to daycare. I am making the same decision right now as my new little one is due to arrive in January! After all of my research, I am deciding to go with the one my sister bought. It is much less common, and she loves it. We both had the jogger with one kid and couldn't imagine going back to a Graco-style double with four set of plastic wheels. Once you have a jogger, you just can't go back. I didn't like the hugeness of the Bob double-wide. And I didn't love that the Phil & Ted put the second kid down low and left no storage room. This is wonderful! She has had it 6 months now and gets asked about it all the time. Check it out:

Here's my response to a similar request not long ago:
I love my Vallco Tri Mode Twin... it's a side-by-side that fits through standard doorways... I roll it right through my front door. It maneuvers like a dream even one-handed and can spin a 360 in place. It can accomodate an infant seat and if you have a 3rd child there's an add-on seat for the front even. I know another mom with the twin version and it's the only stroller she has (it lives in her car)... she loves it. I also know a MaMa who opted for the singleton TriMode and bought the "jump seat" for her toddler... she hates how hard it is to maneuver stacked with two kids and wishes she'd gone with the side-by side. I did tons of research and in-store test drives and fell in love with the TriMode Twin. Yes, it's very pricey but with all the walking we've done I wouldn't trade it for the world. Even my husband talks it up to folks expecting their 2nd baby and he wasn't originally thrilled to be plunking down so much for a stroller! On the Phil & Ted's I couldn't get past the idea that one kiddo wouldn't have much to see and would be taking up that teeny little basket for their grubby shoes. The best add-on I've had for my stroller was a clip-on cup holder by BabyJogger... it's self-leveling and can be attached to the center bar so it won't be in the way. The TriMode Twin has plenty of storage and you won't get tired pushing it... the true tires really make a difference. The sunshades go all the way down to the bumper bar so your kiddos will never be blinded by the sun or blown away.

And to add now that it's raining... the rain covers zip into the sunshades and go all the way over the footplate so you're precious little ones won't get wet while you're blowing off MaMa steam in the rain :P If it's a short errand I'd rather walk in the rain than have to take two kiddos in and out of the car... this way they get in at home and out at home!

I was in the same situation. My daughter was born 9/2 and her older sister turned 2 on 9/11, so I wanted a double stroller that would accommodate the infant car seat since it is so incredibly convenient to let the baby sleep in there rather than having to take her out to put her in the stroller. I looked at EVERYTHING out there and came across the Bumbleride Indie Twin and just LOVE it. It is bulky, but really any double stroller you get that is not an umbrella stroller will be. It's side by side, but I have yet to encounter a problem getting it through any doorways. I would definitely suggest you check it out :-)

I loved my Combi Twin Savvy. Very lite and easy to use. It isn't however a great jogger type one though if that is what you are looking for.

I spent a lot of time researching and trying out different stollers and I really like the Gracco. I went for the slightly larger one because my son didn't fit in the smaller model. He was 19 months when his sister was born. The only complaint is the basket underneath is hard to get into with the carseat in. But on the plus side it is really large. I recommend a front to back instead of a side to side. The side to side strollers are too wide for store isles. Good luck.

I did a lot of research for double strollers. If you are interested, I have a Graco quattro tour duo , which is very gently used, and in almost new condition. Let me know if you would like to buy it. Honestly, I love it, but my older son prefers to walk more, so I recently bought a sit-n-stand for my two boys.

I used the Graco at most 15 times. I have EVERYTHING, manual, infant car seat adapter, etc. Plus, it is super clean. I was hoping to get $175 for it, but best offer works.

We got a sit-n-stand for our children. It is called the sit -n-stand LX at Target. We did a lot of comparison shopping with cost and functionality. This was the best choice. My son loves the option to sit or stand and my daughter is secure in the front and sitting (7months)It folds up easy and goes right in the back of my escape. We took it to six flaggs this summer and it was great. My son could hop on quickly and move around as much as he wanted. I also found that when it is not a double wide, which cannot maneuver easily when shopping and is too wide for most things, I could fit easily in most, it not all, places. Good luck choosing.

We bought the Phil and Ted's when my daughter was 19 months and my son was about born. It is easy to push like the bugaboo and I love that it can work as a single if I just have one child with me. The tire's can puncture...like with the Bob, but I just take it to our local bikeshop for a new tube. After trying out quite a few doubles the Phil and Ted's is by far my favorite.

The double stroller I have is the phil & ted, sport. Now the first time lullaby lane (San bruno) introduced me to it, I was totally turned off, however after shopping around and realizing everything else is at least 30 - 40 pounds, the phil & ted became more appealing. The other nice feature is their "double decker" concept, (what originally turned me off about the stroller), this allows me to feel normal, it eliminates the extra wide fear factor!!! I can fit through normal doors, I can go down food isles, run errands. This stroller can also be used as a single stroller. Google the company and you should find them. I highly recommend going to the store to get familiar with company, it took some time to get comfortable with functioning it.

BTW, I currently use this for my 15-month old and my 4-month old. Just to note, recently travelled, and noticed them everywhere with tourists!!!

I have a Graco front to back that I love. It has snack holders for both seats, as well as a cup holder for each seat and two cup holders for mom and dad. It's a bit heavy, bit it can accomodate the infant seat, and is still comfy when they're sitting by themselves.
The only thing I don't like is that the front seat doesn't recline very far for my older son when he falls asleep. Other than that, I LOVE LOVE it.

I love my Graco DuoGlide. I have a tall 2 1/2 year old and a 3 month old. My oldest fits great in the front and is super comfy and the carseat fits really well in the back seat. It folds down and sets up with one hand and is very light to pick up compared to other strollers I tried out. You can also maneuver it with one hand. It has a HUGE basket underneath for storage. When we were shopping for a 2-seater, we found that my daughter didn't fit in a lot of the models out there and we knew that we wanted to use the stroller for a couple years. She has room to grow in this one. We love it, love it, love it!

I have two big boys 22 months apart. For the most part I wore the baby for the first several months (made it much easier to chase after a toddler and to nurse on the go), so I still got a lot of use out of my single stroller. I was given a hand me down tandem stroller that was so hard to push that I hated it. I just recently, with a 9 month old, bit the bullet and bought the BOB Revolution duallie on sale. I wish it had a bit more head room for my older son, but I love it. It is so easy to push and to steer one handed. I can go grocery shopping and carry a basket in one hand while pushing the stroller with the other. It also has great recline for both boys to sleep.

It is definitely big though, and I won't be popping it in and out of the car a lot or using it for travel.

At 18 mo; our older started wanting to walk a lot and wouldn't stay in the stroller... so we never even went the double route... Kept the baby in a snugli or bjorn when she did want to stroll... and when our son was old enough, we bought a radio flyer plastic wagon with the overhead canopy and use it for everything. They both at 3 & 5 fit in it and love taking rides places and we've been able to do Home and Garden Shows, etc. in it. If you let her walk a little while and just wait it out and see what you really need, you might be better off!

I have a Graco one and love it. It is on the heavy side though, but my carseat fits right in it and my three year old fits with plenty of room in the front.

WHat you need and I wish that I bought is the "phil and Ted" stroller. It holds two kids, newborn and toddler or older child and its basically the size of your bob stroller.

I have many friends who have it and LOVE it!

Not to be too different, but looks like you are only into the very very high end $$$$ baby gear. As an experienced mom of 4 little ones, I can tell you hands down what really works for me and my friends with multiple kids is the little umbrella stroller from Toys R Us or Target and a Baby Bjorn or the Ergo backpack. If you have to spend a lot of $ and keep up with all the Joneses then yes, you will be looking at the Phil and Ted's stroller, the Combi or the double Bob. Rest assured your older one might not want to sit next to the baby and may want to walk- or may not like the side to side/underneath... you could wait and see. Good luck!
