so normal....for us it was Princess everything and that made me want to vomit. At least Dora is an explorer and does something! LOL Hang in there mommmy!
My dd turned 2 a few months ago. Lately she has developed an obsession with Dora Explorer. She will scream if we put on any other cartoon. When we are out at the groc store she will spot anything with Dora on it and get very excited. She talks about Dora- and last night she got upset when I made her go to bed, she actually started calling for Dora and Boots, lol. The last week she was sick so she watched more tv than normal, but still... Is this a normal phase for a 2 year old?

It's very normal, it's a phase and most likely you will just need to ride it out. My daughter is 4 and right now has a major girl crush on Ariel the Little Mermaid. Her Ariel pajamas and underwear are her favorites, she has a bunch of bathtub toy Ariels that she plays with in the bath and she is going as Ariel for Halloween.
I feel your pain though. I am not much of Dora fan. I can't stand how excited she gets about everything and takes forever to actually do anything because she is talking so much. Hey Dora, how about we actually just go rescue Benny off the Gooey Guyser instead of talking about how fast we have to be? (Can you tell we've seen more than our fair share of Dora too?).
It's very normal...but try not to give in to it all the time...
Sometimes it's good to have a few days where "the TV is broken."
My sympathies to you. I can't stand Dora STRESSING!! EVERY!! SINGLE!! WORD!! NO!! MATTER!! WHAT!! IS!! HAPPENING!!!!!! Ugh.
At two years old my son held a Thomas the train engine in his tight little fist for the next eleven months. Slept with it. Ate with it. Your daughter is totally normal.
Totally normal. Just be thankful that she has many episodes that you can record, buy or just watch on TV. My son's obsession was Toy Story 2. That was the only thing he would watch. On weekends he would watch it about 4 times a day at least if I would let him.
yes we went through dora....and caillou....mickey mouse....now were onto tinkerbell....every few months it changes
totally normal. At least Dora has some educational aspect to it, right?
LOL! A mommy once posted on mamapedia that she took her son/grandson on an outing to the museum. The boy spotted a stuffed dodo, took her journal from her (mommy's) purse, opened it and said "matter-of-factly": "A dodo. The dodo has been extinct for hundreds of years."
-So they DO learn from watching TV - LOL!
Its just a fase.. might last all year, might last a month... just don't make it more exiting than what it is already for her.. pay attention, but don't fuel her fire..
let her have dora tv, dora dolls and play pretend... when you go shopping, let her take her doll with and carry the "backpack" so she feels she has a dora and does not need more.
She asks you to buy more, tell her dora told you that she only needs XYZ to complete her mission and that those items are in the car or at home..
She will be in a hurry to go home I guess.. but it might keep her from wanting dora 24/7
She will soon enough get bored and move on to yet another obsession.
Good luck mommy!
I think pretty normal. My son's was Diego. I feel for you though, I really cannot stand Dora! Diego was a little better. After about a year of only wanting to watch Diego, he is finally interested in many different things to watch.
Yes, my daughter had the same obsession. She is now six and thinks we are crazy if we tell her about how much she liked Dora when she was younger.
